Cosentino’s ultracompact surface Dekton® obtains the “Environmental Product Declaration” (EPD)

Cosentino Group, the Spanish company leader in the production and distribution of innovative surfaces for architecture and design, has obtained the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD – ) for the ultra compact surface Dekton® after an analysis of the environmental impact of its life cycle.

The granting of this certificate by an external organisation such as, The International EDP® System, accredits Cosentino Group’s policy of maximum commitment to sustainability, and supports its involvement in improving efficiency in the consumption of raw materials and energy, reducing the generation of waste.

Cosentino Design Challenge presents its 11th edition

The Cosentino Group presents the 11th edition of the international Cosentino Design Challenge. Once again this year, the initiative promotes and encourages creativity and talent among students of design and architectures from around the world.

A total of 22 institutions, schools and specialist universities from Europe, Asia, Oceania and America are actively involved in the projection and development of this year’ edition of the Cosentino Design Challenge. Cosentino Group is also working in every country where it does business to give the contest maximum media and academic coverage.

Since yesterday, Frankfurt has been home to the installation “Musical Labyrinth” by the renowned American architect Daniel Libeskind. In a new collaboration with Cosentino Group, leading producer and distributor of innovative surfaces for architecture and design, the architect yesterday unveiled this installation, made with the ultra-compact surface Dekton® and located in the plaza of Frankfurt’s Alte Oper, in a ceremony attended by various media representatives.

Ricardo Santonja and Cosentino Group discover “architecture’s new skin”

The Cosentino Group, global Spanish company leader in the production and distribution of innovative surfaces for design and architecture, presents “Photo New Skin Architecture”, a spectacular book by Professor Ricardo Santonja, photographer and Doctor of Architecture from ETSAM – Polytechnic University of Madrid.

The book is based on Santonja’s doctoral dissertation “Estudio de las formas de aplicación de la fotografía sobre los materiales pétreos para la arquitectura” (A Study of How to Apply Photography to Stone Materials used for Architecture). From this starting point, and with the core idea of fusing photography and the materials used for architectural construction to become part of the material itself, the book takes a journey through the history of photography and the evolution of its printing methods to the most current innovative ways of printing images onto materials used in architecture.

International Competition for Students Cosentino Design Challenge 2013 reveals its winners

The Cosentino Group, the Spanish world leader in the production and distribution of innovative surfaces for architecture and design, is pleased to announce that yesterday the jury’s verdict of the 7th edition of the international competition Cosentino Design Challenge was revealed, in its two categories: architecture and design.

Cosentino Design Challenge, a competition for design, architecture, interior architecture students or similar areas of knowledge anywhere in the world, aims to foster the talent of students, promoting research into the different conceptual approaches to the layout of spaces, materials and the construction systems that define them, using materials made by Cosentino Group.

The Prince of Asturias opens the new Cosentino Group Dekton® industrial plant

Today His Royal Highness the Prince of Asturias presided over the opening ceremony of the new Cosentino Group industrial plant. The multinational is a global leader in the production and distribution of innovative surfaces for the world of architecture and design and it will manufacture Dekton® in this new plant.

The Dekton® by Cosentino plant has been a technological challenge and it is one of the largest industrial investments made in Spain in recent years. Currently it boasts a 70,000m2 extension and a production line. In the future, 3 further lines may be added, which will bring the total surface area to 200,000m2 and total production capacity will reach 6,000 slabs per day.
