The Islay Road project involved the construction of a new residential building in Lancashire, UK. The client required a modern and durable facade that would complement the building's contemporary design and withstand the harsh weather conditions of the area. The architect, Ben Jurin, chose Dekton Domoos and Zenith for the facade due to their exceptional durability, versatility, and aesthetic appeal.
The main challenge of the project was to create a facade that would withstand the harsh weather conditions of the area, including strong winds, rain, and snow. The facade also needed to be easy to maintain and clean, as the building is located in a busy commercial area. Additionally, the architect wanted to create a unique and eye-catching design that would stand out from other buildings in the area.
Dekton’s advantages
To meet the client's requirements, the architect chose Dekton Domoos and Zenith for the facade. Dekton is a highly durable and versatile material that is resistant to scratches, stains, and UV rays. It is also easy to clean and maintain, making it ideal for commercial buildings. The architect chose a 1.2 cm thickness for the Dekton panels, which provided the necessary strength and durability while maintaining a sleek and modern look.
The facade design features a combination of Dekton Domoos and Dekton Zenith panels, creating a striking contrast between the light and dark colors. The panels were installed using a mechanical fixing system, which provided a secure and stable attachment to the building's structure. The masonry team from Powell Masonry worked closely with the contractor, Contract Stone, to ensure that the installation was completed to the highest standards.
A concealed, robust solution
The Islay Road facade in Dekton Domoos and Zenith was completed in 2022 and has received positive feedback from the client and the community. The facade's unique design and high-quality materials have made it a standout feature in the area, attracting attention from passersby and potential tenants. The Dekton panels have proven to be highly durable and easy to maintain, ensuring that the building will look great for years to come.
Fixing Dekton panels with rear undercut anchors provides a concealed, robust solution that allows for a clean, minimalist design with exceptional cutting versatility, while maintaining superior mechanical performance.
With a 25-year product warranty for façades and carbon neutral certification, Dekton is the ideal choice for sustainable, long-lasting cladding solutions.
The Islay Road project demonstrates the versatility and durability of Dekton as a material for facades. The combination of Domoos and Zenith panels created a unique and eye-catching design that met the client's requirements for a modern and durable facade. The collaboration between the architect, contractor, and masonry team ensured that the installation was completed to the highest standards, resulting in a successful project that has exceeded the client's expectations.
