Andrea Maffei Architetto is responsible for the design of this private residence in Besozzo, Italy, near Lake Maggiore. “The relationship with the lake is the main focus of the design, with a courtyard that runs the length of the front of the house, rounded off by a large slat in Dekton Eter. It is the ideal setting for the outdoor relaxation area with swimming pool,” says the studio.
Dekton Eter, the colour chosen to clad the wall that separates the villa from its neighbours, features a dark granite structure in black and grey tones, creating a background of soft contrasts and a very contemporary look, perfect for this house with modern lines.
Same floor for a consistent look indoors and out
This Cosentino surface was used several times throughout the project. Dekton Aeris, a colour inspired by white limestone with light nuances and creamy details, was chosen for the floor around the swimming pool. This colour was also used in the interior, creating a continuous effect between the two spaces and breaking down the boundaries between inside and outside.
“We chose Dekton by Cosentino because of the materiality of the product, its availability in a wide range of formats and the high quality of its finishes and details,” says the studio, which also used this Cosentino surface for the floor, the shower wall and one of the washbasins. These surfaces feature Dekton Laurent, a dramatic colour with a dark background crossed by striking golden-orange veins, while Dekton Neural, a cream colour with pale, elegant veins running in a single direction across the surface to create a timeless pattern, was chosen for another washbasin in the house.
“Our aim was to create a material continuity by using the same flooring in all indoor and outdoor environments,” says Andrea Maffei Architetto. Dekton made this possible thanks to its exceptional durability, as it is perfectly resistant to extreme cold and heat and is also immune to UV rays.
“The wide range of materials and colours, the possibility of using it both indoors and outdoors (especially in bathrooms) and the ability to harmonise spaces with a single product, from the shower tray to the custom-made washbasin, which can be installed both horizontally and vertically, are just some of the advantages of choosing Dekton for this project. In addition, the choice of Cosentino made it possible to create a perfect colour continuity between the edge of the infinity swimming pool, the courtyard and the rest of the relaxation area,” the studio concludes.
