For this Chicago renovation, Ainslie Design Studio set out to create a space that was bold, minimal, and full of contrast. The designers had used Silestone Charcoal Soapstone in the past, but never on this scale, and the results speak for themselves. The surface runs from countertop to full-height backsplash, creating a dramatic focal point that feels grounded and refined.
“We knew we wanted something moody and impactful,” said the Ainslie team. “We’ll never say no to taking the countertop up the wall. It always looks classic and elevated.” Silestone Charcoal Soapstone’s dark tone and subtle veining were the perfect counterbalance to the surrounding Pewter Green cabinetry, delivering the rich palette the clients were after.
Durability was just as important as aesthetics. “We’ve explored other charcoal soapstone options, but nothing compares to this one,” the designers add. “It has the perfect texture, finish, and movement, and it holds up beautifully in a hardworking kitchen.”
Fabricated and installed by Stone Masters, the project highlights the versatility of Silestone in modern residential design, where timeless allure meets everyday performance.
