In an exclusive apartment in Osaka, operated by LOUCA and the Infinity Group / IXS studio, Japanese designer Yosuke Muramatsu has transformed a conventional space into a sophisticated and contemporary grotto overlooking the city from above. Through the strategic use of dark tones, ambient lighting, and carefully selected surfaces, the interior design of the project evokes an intimate and refined atmosphere that makes the most of the material properties.
“The careful selection of materials enhances spatial qualities while maintaining a fluid and sophisticated design. The use of large-format Dekton slabs enhances spaciousness in common areas, while darker tones in key areas create a refined contrast,” explains Muramatsu about the main architectural and decorative feature of the apartment.
The choice of materials was crucial to achieving this immersive effect. In this regard, Cosentino surfaces, both Dekton and Silestone, played a fundamental role: “Cosentino materials provide durability, aesthetic versatility, and a wide range of finishes, perfectly aligned with the project’s vision, which combines elegance and functionality. Additionally, the large format and reduced thickness allowed for installation without visible joints and minimalist details,” notes the designer.
Optimal solutions for different needs
Each area of the apartment features a specific Dekton solution, designed for both practical use and aesthetic appeal. Muramatsu notes that “the selection of different Dekton surfaces for each space ensures functional and aesthetic coherence, contributing to the overall luxury of the project and its visual harmony.”
Among the specific advantages offered by these materials, Muramatsu highlights “the high durability and stain resistance, essential for high-traffic areas; the large-format slabs that improve visual flow and minimise joints; as well as the variety of finishes and colours that allow for elegant integration into each design element.”
Regarding the use of colour, the designer chose a deep and carefully balanced colour range: “The colour palette was carefully selected to maintain neutrality in shared spaces and add sophistication to private areas, using darker tones to create a more intimate and elegant feel.”
Finally, Muramatsu highlights the essential role played specifically by Dekton and Silestone surfaces within the apartment: “The durability, low maintenance, and high aesthetic quality of Dekton surfaces play a key role in creating a timeless and luxurious residential environment.”
