Claudia Afshar achieved a harmonious blend of refinement and restraint with Cosentino surfaces

In a recent residential project, renowned interior designer Claudia Afhsar demonstrates the transformative power of thoughtfully layered materials. At the heart of this design is a striking new fireplace wall, introduced as a central architectural feature to bring depth, warmth, and a sense of dimension to the living room. A previously blank expanse, the living room’s focal point now featured a carefully composed interplay of materials: Dekton Ukiyo in the soft, warm shade of Nacre and Sensa Taj Mahal natural stone.

The fluted texture of Ukiyo, which was designed by Afshar herself, adds a sculptural rhythm to the vertical surface while the natural stone provides a serene, organic contrast. Together, they create a refined neutral palette that feels both elevated and inviting. The ambient glow of the ethanol fireplace enhances these tactile surfaces, casting subtle shadows and amplifying the richness of the materials. Flanking the cabinetry and subtle lighting complete the composition, achieving a mood of understated luxury.

In the adjacent kitchen, Sensa Taj Mahal continues the visual narrative, featured prominently on the island, countertops, and backsplash. The stone’s natural veining and tonal elegance complement the minimalist architecture.

Afshar selected Cosentino surfaces not only for their aesthetic appeal, but also for their technical superiority. “This project afforded us the perfect opportunity to showcase the Dekton Ukiyo collection,” she notes. “Its sculptural beauty and resilience make it ideal for architectural moments like this.” The fireplace wall, in particular, benefits from Dekton’s fireproof composition, making it a safe, durable, and long-lasting design solution.
