A stylish weekend home built with low-maintenance, highly durable materials. This was the client’s main request to the Maevy Project studio. “We were tasked with creating a cohesive space that would seamlessly combine two units, yet allow each to function independently. Each unit had to reflect the unique style and personality of its user, which made the design process an exciting challenge,” they assert.
Grey tones, gold accents, carefully selected mustard colour, blown glass for the lamps and plenty of natural light. The house had a very strong, elegant and sophisticated style, so every element had to be in line with that aesthetic. This led the studio to choose Cosentino for the kitchen area. “Cosentino offered just that: durable surfaces that were both tough and beautiful. The materials strike the perfect balance between practicality and visual appeal, with minimal maintenance that enhances the overall look of the space”.
Low maintenance yet stylish
The kitchen opens to the living and dining areas through an archway in the wall, connecting it to the rest of the room and enhancing visual communication and a sense of openness. The finishes had to be exceptionally durable, low maintenance and long lasting “as this is a weekend home that won’t be used every day”, so functionality was key, but so was style.
As a result, Dekton Trance was chosen for the kitchen island, worktop and splashback. Its white base with bluish and golden veins was undoubtedly the perfect complement. “We chose it for its bold character; it creates a striking look that makes the kitchen stand out without being overwhelming, whilst also offering high durability.” The light-coloured wood and details such as the lamp and the chairs in a raw finish completed the look.
