L’Oeil is a high-end optometry clinic that fuses artistic vision with functional design. What began as a conceptual rendering by an international designer was brought to life by Iluce Concepts, who masterfully transformed the vision into a striking real-world interior. This commercial renovation posed a unique challenge: translating a design-forward concept into a durable, high-traffic environment without compromising aesthetics.
With only 3D renderings to work from, Iluce Concepts stepped in to manage the material specification, technical adaptations, and construction execution. Recognizing the demands of the space and the need for cohesive finishes, they turned to Dekton.
At the heart of the material palette was Dekton Rem, specified in a matte velvety finish in 20 mm thickness for the countertops and a thinner 8 mm format for the floating display shelves. Rem’s soft veining and marble-inspired design introduced a timeless, natural look while the matte texture brought depth, minimized glare, and added a sensory element to the design. In tandem, Rem's Ukiyo grooved finish brought a dynamic textural contrast when used on wall features, table sides, and the reception desk. Ukiyo’s subtle fluting and modern artistry helped differentiate the clinic from traditional medical environments.
One of the most striking features is the curved walls clad in Ukiyo. The architectural statement became the focal point of the space, enhanced by custom floating shelves made of Rem and thoughtful LED lighting by SOUL LED Tech + Design. The interplay of material and light elevated the beauty of the stone, adding depth and character. Another standout moment is the consultation table, a bespoke piece crafted from Dekton. The mix of tones and finishes made it a functional centerpiece.
Iluce Concepts worked with Interior Design MTL for aesthetic refinement and leaned on the expertise of the Cosentino City Montreal showroom to evaluate surface options firsthand. Cosentino materials proved essential in bridging the gap between vision and execution by offering the flexibility needed to meet the project’s high design and functional standards.
Dekton was selected for its elevated appearance and unmatched performance in commercial settings, ideal to withstand the daily operations of a busy clinic. Its availability in large-format slabs enabled a seamless visual flow. At the same time, its thickness options allowed the design team to use it across a range of applications, both vertical and horizontal.
