Jean Porsche has spent years travelling the world, but he always returns to Madrid. On this occasion, the Franco-Mexican interior designer emotionally returns 'home' without leaving the iconic building at Sagasta 33, thanks to a project full of personal touches for Schmidt, the leading French kitchen brand. Under the title 'Toujours à Madrid', Porsche demonstrates that the Spanish capital is an endless source of stories and surprises for him (and for everyone). Or, as he himself explains with his usual cosmopolitan humour: 'That the most important kitchen company in France is from Alsace like your grandfather, and that they ask you to design their space, are things that only happen in Madrid.'
In the spectacular setting of Casa Decor 2025, Porsche has designed a space that pays tribute to the energy and diversity of the city. To achieve this, he has created a sequence of environments where visitors can experience the same feeling as when strolling through the city: there is always something new and surprising to discover.
Madrid in a triangular island (and much more)
Upon entering 'Toujours à Madrid', the first thing that catches the eye is a kitchen featuring a bold triangular island, a true statement of intent that reflects Madrid's unique way of embracing the unexpected. The worktop in Silestone Rivière Rose, with its pink and grey veining, adds elegance, something Porsche excels at. But, as in Madrid, surprises are hidden in plain sight: behind the doors of the large storage units lie details that invite you to explore every corner.
Continuing the journey, we arrive at an office that is more than just a workspace; it is a sensory experience. Here, Porsche unveils an exclusive collaboration with Maison Christian Lacroix, resulting in lacquered panels and a spectacular ceiling with lighting that captivates at first glance. This small corner encapsulates the essence of the city, where cultural and artistic fusion translates into a place to work, chat, and even dream.
But if anyone thought the laundry room was the most boring space in a home, Porsche proves them completely wrong. His playful proposal for this corner of the house turns the everyday into something inspiring. Here too, Silestone Rivière Rose is present, making this space a place where one might linger even after finishing the laundry.
A little further on, we discover a living room that, as expected in a project inspired by Madrid, hides a pleasant surprise: an elegant custom-made bar cabinet featuring Schmidt elements. This French brand is not limited to kitchen furniture but also knows how to conquer living rooms and other spaces in the home.
Technology and Madrid's tradition in dialogue
One of the most impressive details of the space is the use of Dekton Trevi, a material that reproduces classic Roman travertine in silvery tones using ultracompact technology. Porsche has masterfully used it to clad the recess of a fireplace, achieving a balance between technological sophistication and classical beauty. A contrast that, like Madrid itself, perfectly combines the modern with the historical. A marvellous duality.
'Toujours à Madrid' is a true reflection of the city's spirit. A place where everything is designed to evoke emotions, to live different stories, and above all, to show that in Madrid, surprises are always guaranteed.
