Located in the heart of the Comarca del Mármol region of Almería, this emblematic hotel has been standing for over three decades, welcoming thousands of leisure and business travellers every year. Hotel Jardines La Tejera is a leading institution in the hospitality industry, renowned for hosting numerous celebrations and events in its spacious, light-filled halls surrounded by gardens.
To accommodate this constant influx of visitors, the four-star hotel complex is regularly refurbished using the most durable design materials available. This commitment to excellence led to a complete refurbishment of the guest rooms and reception area in 2023, using Cosentino’s ultra-compact Dekton surfaces in a variety of finishes.
The choice was no accident: Dekton’s hardness, durability, ease of maintenance and cleanability make it the ideal material for a busy hotel complex with a restaurant, gastro bar, function rooms and gym, all of which are subject to heavy daily use.
Dekton’s finest Mediterranean colours
Domus Arquitectura led the refurbishment project, working closely with Cosentino Studio. It was clear from the outset that warm colours and a distinct, contemporary Mediterranean style would be used to give the hotel an authentic yet minimalist look. The aim was to create a welcoming, calm and friendly atmosphere that would make guests feel at home and reflect the hotel management’s top priority: guest well-being.
Dekton’s extensive range of colours, thicknesses and finishes allowed for a variety of applications. In the reception area of the hotel, Dekton Albarium adorns the floor, the front wall cladding and the large counter, which is undoubtedly the focal point. The large format Dekton pieces minimise joints and provide a flawless finish.
Dekton’s textured shades – Neural, Sabbia and Nebbia – were used throughout the project to create accent walls.
A haven of tranquillity bathed in natural tones and textures
Bedrooms maximise space with light colours that reflect the abundance of natural light streaming through the large windows. Dekton Sabbia and Dekton Nebbia headboards create a stunning accent wall, adding depth and richness to the space, enhanced by subtle LED lighting. All this, combined with a minimalist décor of light wood finishes, steel accents and natural fabrics, transforms the rooms into true sanctuaries of relaxation for guests.
Dekton also takes centre stage in the bathrooms. A bespoke washbasin, incorporating the towel rails, stands out as the centrepiece against a backdrop of neutral walls clad in Dekton Albarium.
To add depth and nuance to the bathroom, the grooved finish of the Dekton Ukiyo collection has been used in a range of colours: Albarium, Sabbia, Nebbia and Neural. The new Ukiyo collection has been designed by Claudia Afshar, who brings us her reinterpretation of grooved textures. This collection is an invitation to enter a world where time passes leisurely and the present moment is the only thing that matters, enjoying the beauty of natural textures. The use of these surfaces adds depth and detail to the hotel’s spaces.
Dekton also shines in the cafeteria
Dekton is also featured in Terra Café, the modern cafeteria and gastro bar next to the hotel reception. Here, guests can enjoy a wonderful breakfast buffet each morning. Terra Café is also a vibrant hub for locals, offering gourmet tapas, cocktails and snacks on its beautiful sun-drenched terrace. Specifically, Dekton Bergen graces the design of the tables and two striking, polished counters, while Dekton Lunar takes pride of place on the floor in large format pieces.
As well as its undeniable beauty, Dekton’s exceptional resistance to stains, scratches and heat, and its ease of maintenance, make it particularly suitable for high-traffic catering environments.
