“None of our 26 rooms is the same as another. Some open onto the gardens, others overlook the hills, but all have their own particularities and distinctive features,” say the team at Hyll Hotel. The decorative personality is part of the charm of this hotel. It could not be otherwise with Youth Studio in charge of the interior design of this five-star boutique hotel in the beautiful English Cotswolds.
“Hyll is a luxury retreat focused on design, conceived for those seeking tranquillity, reconnection, and a profound sense of place. Stripped of all excess, each element is anchored in the most essential materiality —stone, wood, linen— creating a sensory landscape far removed from the modern world,” explain its creators.
“The spaces have been deliberately refined to invite immersion, slow down the pace, and sharpen perception. Carefully considered transitions, bespoke furniture, and an earthy palette create an experience that feels both grounded and natural,” continues this award-winning studio whose style many define as “refined rawness.”
Natural colours with mineral echoes
In this sophisticated and organic universe, Sensa Platino finds its place on the bar worktop, which serves cocktails, tea, coffee, and wines from around the world. The quartzite from the interior of Brazil, whose mineral formation brings a sense of purity, evokes the movement of ocean waves with its pattern. Its design perfectly complements the pronounced grain of the dark wood that supports it.
In the spacious and welcoming restaurant area, it is Dekton Kira that takes centre stage, defining the different areas of the room. Establishing a dialogue with Sensa Platino, this ultra-compact surface, similar to Gris Pulpis stone for its elegance and versatility, features earthy tones that gently contrast with its light grey pattern. Its fine veins, naturally distributed across the slab, and its soft matt texture give it a timeless colour that integrates perfectly with the contemporary décor and the centuries-old structure of the property.
Elegance and durability
Despite their luxurious appearance, both Sensa and Dekton are durable surfaces suitable for demanding spaces such as restaurants. The former is a natural stone with an exclusive stain-resistant treatment integrated into the molecular structure of the stone, which extends the lifespan of the bar worktop. Additionally, it reduces maintenance, as it eliminates the need for sealing and makes cleaning easier.
Dekton, on the other hand, not only stands out aesthetically thanks to its extensive colour range; it also excels in functionality as it is resistant to abrasion, scratches and impacts, water and stains, extreme temperatures, fire, and UV rays. For all these reasons, it is an extremely durable surface that requires virtually no maintenance, something the designers undoubtedly considered when including it in the project.
