Samuel Architects is a Denmark-based studio that creates high-profile architectural projects and is known for promoting the minimalist, sustainable and holistic characteristics of Scandinavian design.
All of this can be seen in their latest project: a large luxury beachfront villa in Zealand, Denmark, overlooking the Øresund strait and with spectacular views of the island of Hven and the west coast of Sweden. “The most interesting aspect of the project is the exceptional location of the villa, the views and the connections that are created through the house from the courtyard and the ocean,” says the studio.
The U-shaped layout of the new-built villa makes the most of the opportunities for outdoor living: “Due to the harsh, Nordic weather and wind conditions of living by the sea, we have created several terraces with different orientations to enjoy outdoor life all year round,” they say.
A modern look thanks to Dekton large format and seamless slabs
The 3,230-square-feet villa is up to date and integrated into the landscape thanks to its exterior cladding in stone, Dekton and natural green roofs, which architecturally connect the different volumes of the building and make it look like a whole instead of several small buildings.
“Dekton was an essential element in the design of the cladding structure,” says the studio. “The fact that Dekton makes it possible to create an architectural appearance with long lines, without visible breaks in the façade, is a great advantage. The material is also easy to handle and install on site by the contractors,” they further say.
Dekton, an unalterable surface in the face of harsh weather conditions
For the façade and cantilever edges, the studio chose Dekton Eter, a colour with a strong contemporary character and a background of gentle contrasts with a dark granite structure in black and grey tones.
This ultra-compact surface also has the advantage of being able to withstand the area’s harsh weather conditions, remaining unaffected by salt residue, wind erosion and UV rays, as guaranteed by its 25-year warranty.
“We chose Dekton because it is a great product for creating the details and architecture of this project. In addition, the colour range is suitable and the price is reasonable,” says the studio. And they add: “The professionalism shown in the management of this project is an invitation to use the Cosentino brands for future projects.”
