Nestled on the shores of Lake Zurich, Villa Hecht represents more than just an architectural achievement — it is the realization of a lifelong dream. Edith Saladin, both the homeowner and creative soul, drew her inspiration from an unforgettable journey to South Africa. "The inspiration for this house came from a trip to South Africa. Light-filled spaces and a sense of endless summer were key elements of that experience," Saladin explains. "The breathtaking view of the lake is the essence of this inspiration, guiding both the orientation of the house and the interior design."
For Edith Saladin, travertine is more than a mere building material; it embodies the spirit of summer and lightness. "For us, the feeling of summer is intrinsically linked to travertine, a stone often seen in Italy," she notes. Travertine brings a natural warmth to Villa Hecht, making it the perfect choice for the design of the luxurious kitchen area. "We didn’t want to compromise on functionality, so we chose a travertine look for most surfaces," she explains. "For the kitchen countertops, we sought a material that would seamlessly integrate while also bridging the gap between functionality and elegance."
Perfect Harmony, Dekton Danae
The final choice for the kitchen and bathroom surfaces was Dekton Danae from Cosentino. This material stands out for its elegant simplicity, versatility in fabrication, and easy-to-maintain durability. "The material from Cosentino harmonizes perfectly with the linen textures and is incredibly versatile in its application," Saladin enthuses. "It’s easy to maintain, stain-resistant, robust, and still looks as pristine as it did on day one."
Particularly in the master bathroom, which was designed to avoid the typical "wet room" feel, Dekton Danae proved to be the ideal solution. "We wanted to carry the warm, homely atmosphere of the rest of the house into the bathroom," Saladin emphasizes. "In a space that faces daily exposure to moisture and various substances, Dekton Danae has shown its resilience and functionality to be truly exceptional."
A home with a soul
The result is a home that captivates not only with its stunning lakeside location but also with the harmonious integration of architecture and materials. Villa Hecht is a remarkable example of how inspiring architecture combined with high-quality materials like Dekton Danae from Cosentino can create a home that meets the highest standards of both aesthetics and functionality.
Edith Saladin has created a sanctuary with Villa Hecht that captures the essence of summer while perfectly complementing the daily life of a family—a true dream home on the shores of Lake Zurich.
