In luxury interior design, exclusivity is often discussed in terms of unique pieces or exclusive materials. However, true sophistication can lie in narrowing the range of choices to enhance overall coherence. This was the challenge taken on by INERRE Interior in their latest project in Tangerang, Indonesia, a luxury flat where the concept of 'less is more' translates into a clean, elegant, and timeless design, with Dekton playing a key role.
The studio faced an initial challenge: structural columns that disrupted spatial flow. The solution was not to hide them but to turn them into a design feature. 'One of the most interesting architectural aspects is how we transformed a spatial limitation into a strength. We used a pleated motif for the columns and enhanced them with paint. This allowed the structural elements to integrate harmoniously with the rest of the interior,' explain INERRE. A clear example of how challenges can become creative opportunities.
The role of Dekton Rem in the project
The material chosen to unify the spaces was Dekton Rem, applied across multiple surfaces: from the bar counter, breakfast table, and dining table, to the minibar in the master bedroom, bedside tables, worktop, kitchen island, and even the TV unit. 'We chose Cosentino materials because they align with a modern lifestyle. We educate our clients to select materials that are not only elegant and enhance the interior but also require minimal maintenance. This makes them a long-lasting and excellent investment,' the designers affirm.
The decision to use the same finish across different elements reflects the pursuit of a sophisticated and coherent interior. 'The main benefit of using Dekton is its ability to embody the concept of 'less is more.' By consistently using a single material in different areas —such as the kitchen worktop, splashback, and dining table— the interior feels sophisticated, cohesive, and unified,' they note.
An interior with character
The visual appeal of Dekton Rem also played a key role in the final result. Its light tone, with subtle and elegant veining, brings brightness and freshness to the space. 'We chose this pattern because we love light colours, which enhance the mood. The veining, discreet yet attractive, made it the perfect choice to complement the room,' the team explains.
In addition to aesthetics, practicality was a decisive factor. 'Cosentino materials were an ideal choice for this project due to their durability, low maintenance, and availability in large-format slabs. They also perfectly complemented the material palette we had selected,' they detail.
Consistency in materials did not mean monotony but rather a guiding thread that reinforces the creator's vision. By limiting the palette, the studio achieved an interior that exudes order, with pieces that interact harmoniously and spaces that flow without visual interruptions.
