KES Group, based in Northern Ireland, specialises in the design and manufacture of high‑end modular buildings, including residential pods, commercial pods, and premium office solutions. The company is known for innovation, precision engineering, and an emphasis on longevity and sustainability. Their Business X collection, luxury office pods designed for modern work environments, reflects their commitment to functional design, architectural quality, and premium materials.
Discovering Dekton by Cosentino
According to Ashleigh Lewis, Project Manager at KES Group, the relationship with Cosentino began when KES responded to a social media campaign promoting façade applications. “We knew Cosentino for worktops,” Ashley explained, “but it wasn’t until we saw your façade content that we realised Dekton could deliver the durability and sophistication we needed for our new Business X pods.”
Furthermore, its high resistance to UV rays, scratches, frost, thawing and even fire, together with its low water absorption rate, ensure a pristine appearance for many years to come. This surface, which combines low maintenance and a long service life, is also beneficial to the environment.
The façade concept: bonded application
The KES team selected Dekton Keon for the Business X façade due to its modern industrial aesthetic, neutral tone, and design versatility. Ashley shared: “Dekton Keon gave us the contemporary look we wanted: clean, architectural, and premium. It complements the pod’s linear structure and the overall high‑end feel we aim for.”
Beyond aesthetics, durability and stability were key. The pods are designed to be transported and installed across different locations, meaning the façade material must withstand vibration, weather change, and movement while remaining flawless. Dekton offered exactly that level of strength.
KES Group developed a bonded façade system specifically tailored to their Business X pods. They required lightweight yet robust panels that could be cut to exact dimensions and installed efficiently at scale. Initially, Cosentino supplied cut‑to‑size Dekton panels directly based on KES specifications.
Ashley noted: “Working with cut‑to‑size Dekton gave us precision and consistency. It integrated perfectly into our system.” However, as production increases, KES plans to transition to full-slab supply, allowing greater flexibility and control over their cutting process.
The Business X pod series is designed as a premium modular workspace with architectural detailing, large glazing sections, integrated lighting, and a refined interior approach. Ashley explained: “Everything in Business X is designed to feel intentional and high quality. The exterior sets the tone, which is why the façade material was so important.” Dekton Keon’s texture and finish reinforce the brand’s visual identity: modern, durable, and innovative.
Dekton was also incorporated inside the pods, in splashbacks, kitchenette worktops, and vanity tops. This reinforces material continuity and elevates the overall design language. “Using Dekton inside just made sense,” Ashley said. “It ties everything together visually, and it means clients get a product that performs as good as it looks.”
Working with Cosentino
Ashley described the collaboration as open, supportive, and technically strong. “The Cosentino team were always proactive, quick to answer questions, quick to send samples, and genuinely interested in our needs,” she said. The partnership reflects KES Group’s desire to work only with suppliers who meet their quality and service expectations.
Looking ahead, KES Group expects Dekton to play a significant role in future products, including the Living X series. With increasing interest in premium modular living spaces, Dekton’s façade capabilities present opportunities for elevated design and long‑term durability. “Dekton opens the door for us to rethink what a modular building can be,” Ashley said. “It’s not just cladding, it’s part of the identity of the pod.”
