The Catalan restaurant Teleferic Barcelona brings Spanish gastronomy to the California Atlantic coast with its second location in Long Beach along the iconic Pacific Coast Highway. The space beautifully combines the beachy atmosphere of its surroundings with an air of exclusivity and a smart and functional layout. The design seeks to blur the lines between the interior and the semi-covered exterior by transferring materiality and enhancing continuity between the spaces.
Teleferic has a unique approach to Spanish elements including ceramics and a large lattice of handcrafted pieces crafted with traditional processes and imported from Spain. In the large dining room, two communal solid oak tables from Barcelona and a composition of hand-woven Moroccan lamps create circular communication within the restaurant complemented by a ceiling of inverted values made of wooden slats - a nod to famous Catalan vaults.
The dining tables have tops made of Dekton Khalo, an ultracompact surface inspired by Patagonia granite. Its innovative hue features subtle spots of black, pale gold, and coffee brown, achieving a wonderfully complex color structure.
The elegant bar has a Sensa Black Beauty natural stone countertop which rests on a rhythmic composition of wooden slats with rounded edges and varying sizes. Sensa Moak Black granite can also be seen along the wall in the bar area. Crowning the imposing black bar is the creation of Spanish artist Toni Obra - four abstract paintings that add color to the space.
The material selection for Teleferic’s location in Long Beach was meticulous and designed to enhance the sensation of Mediterranean tradition with an unpretentious approach to luxury - both key elements in Teleferic’s DNA.
