An exclusive, refined, elegant space with extraordinary properties. This is the bathroom designed by NORMALEARCHITETTURA° in a private residence in Milan, using Dekton surfaces with light veins reminiscent of the famous Carrara and Calacatta marbles. The goal? To achieve a spacious and refined look.
The studio, founded in 2008 by Chiara Filios and Arnaldi Arnaldo, is known for having carried out very different projects, ranging in scale and type and addressing the broad spectrum of areas covered by today’s architecture: renovation of school classrooms, office design, creation of auditoriums, urban planning, landscaping, and so on. Naturally, there is also room in its long history for the design of private residences, including the home that includes this very special bathroom.
A greater sense of spaciousness thanks to Dekton Aura
‘The most interesting architectural and decorative feature of the project is the white tone, reminiscent of Carrara marble. This allows more natural light to flood in, which gives the bathroom a noticeably larger appearance than the actual surface area. The dimensions of the selected slabs allow them to be installed with a great scenic effect, and the quality of the reproductions of the veins makes it possible to fit the slabs together, giving them continuity,’ explains the firm.
The colour they refer to is Dekton Aura, whose use of colour and veining patterns recall the feel of the noblest materials thanks to its ability to reproduce the harmony of natural stone and its timeless elegance. As a matter of fact, thanks to their high resistance to scratches, stains and even fire and heat, Dekton’s ultra-compact surfaces remain as good as new for (at least) 25 years, as certified by their warranty.
Reduced thicknesses to make installation even easier
‘The performance and the formal quality of the product’ were precisely two of the main reasons why NORMALEARCHITETTURA° chose this Cosentino material. In this case, a thickness of 4 mm was chosen for the wall cladding, while a thickness of 8 mm was used for the floor, in the same shade. ‘The reduced thicknesses make it possible to optimise the installation from both a functional and aesthetic point of view,’ explains the studio.
‘The white tone and the quality of the reproduction of the veins was what made us fall in love with it,’ say the owners of the house. ‘The size of the slabs provides the bathroom with a unified effect,’ they continue.
Perfect white and non-porous shower tray
The confidence of both designers and users in Cosentino products was such in this project that they were also used for the shower tray. Specifically, the Silestone Wakka shower tray was chosen in the Iconic White colour, a perfect, bright white enhanced with N-Boost technology, which intensifies the colour and makes it more durable.
In addition to its powerful aesthetics, this sophisticated piece without vertical joints also has features that make it completely irresistible in terms of functionality. Thus, apart from all the aforementioned characteristics that they share with Dekton, Silestone shower trays offer a low water absorption (due to their almost zero porosity), which makes them highly resistant to water and humidity. What is the result? A surface that is very easy to maintain and will look as good as new for years to come.
