Travertine: the most iconic stone of Ancient Rome is back, renewed and more durable than ever

Travertine will be one of the main trends in decoration in 2023 and it is no wonder: this stone allows to create calm and natural atmospheres both indoors and out. Thanks to its beauty, durability and strength, this material has been used since the times of Ancient Rome in iconic structures such as the Colosseum. It is a warm, discreet and very versatile stone that has been and will continue to be very popular in architecture.

For this reason, Cosentino decided to decode it together with other classic natural stones such as Vicenza stone and Ceppo di Gré. In collaboration with architect and designer Daniel Germani, creator of the new Pietra Kode collection, all these stones have been recoded with the beauty, strength and durability of Dekton technology.

Among the 7 colours in this brand new collection is the Travertine Kode range, in which we reinterpret the stone out of which Rome was built into a new contemporary vision of the material that made classical art shine and inspired Renaissance architecture.

Thanks to Dekton technology, some of the disadvantages of Travertine, such as its high porosity and the wear and tear caused by the passage of time, are eliminated, resulting in surfaces that retain their beauty unchanged.

Discover the colours of the Travertine Kode range

As we said before, this new collection decodes the essence of travertine, a stone that exudes elegance from every pore, offering you two new colours that you will love:

TK05 Sabbia is an attractive universe of colours in perfect chaos. The vein pattern of this colour, which recreates Italian travertine, runs through each piece in a random and colourful way, enriching it with nuances. This recoding of the colour of natural stone enhances the strength of its original design, endowing it with an incomparable beauty and resistance, perfect for a rustic or natural style.

TK 06 Marmorio represents genuine timeless and tactile beauty with delicate light veins; the quintessential Roman stone. Its porous striped structure gives an elegant, bright and lightweight look to any design and takes its inspiration from Travertino Navona, a natural stone quarried near Tivoli, east of Rome.

Available in Matt and Grip+ finishes and suitable for use in any space and on any surface, these two new colours join the Dekton range.

Why choose Travertine Kode to design your home

The travertine-inspired colours of the Pietra Kode collection are ideal if you are looking to create spaces that convey calm, tranquility, discretion and a sophisticated rustic feel.

Despite being a stone used in classical monuments and buildings, this new Dekton reinterpretation in a matt finish and available in different thicknesses, allows the creation of very contemporary applications that adapt to a wide variety of styles, such as Mediterranean, Grandmillennial or natural.

Another advantage of the colours in the Travertine Kode series is their great versatility, as their cream background makes them very easy to combine with other materials and to fit in with all types of surfaces. This, together with all the technical properties of Dekton, make Travertine Kode suitable for all types of floors, claddings, kitchens, swimming pools, façades and even furniture.

How to combine the new Travertine Kode colours

We love the Travertine Kode series for its versatility when it comes to combining it with other materials and finishes, as they are very discreet colours that go well with everything.

Rustic Mediterranean style living rooms

The cool-toned TK05 Sabbia goes perfectly with dark woods and grey tones. For warmth, you can add natural fibre furnishings to the décor, such as rugs and furniture, as well as some handmade pottery. This colour is perfect for rustic and natural atmospheres.

This living room features a combination of parquet planks and VK04 Grafite slabs – also from the Pietra Kode collection –, creating a unique flooring design.

Rustic kitchens with a modern feel

Combining the colours of the collection, such as Sabbia and Grafite, results in unique pieces like this island with integrated low level. The cool tones of the stone are softened by the wood of the kitchen furniture and the decoration in natural fibres and terracotta tones.

Sophisticated living rooms featuring floors and walls in Travertine Kode

There is nothing more elegant than combining a TK06 Marmorio wall cladding with a TK05 Sabbia flooring to create a calm, peaceful and sophisticated atmosphere.

The cream shades of TK06 Marmorio bring warmth to large spaces such as a living room, where we can use fabrics, natural fibres and pottery to round off the look. On floors, you can use a combination of this colour and TK05 Sabbia for a flawless result.

A bathroom converted into a spa

We propose you to design a bathroom completely clad in TK06 Marmorio – floor, walls and bathtub – and combine it with dark wood, black taps and a Dekton Laurent worktop: the result is a completely different look, more sophisticated and sober.

You can also use these combinations for kitchen and bathroom worktops and units: we recommend a 4 mm Dekton Slim cladding in your favourite Travertine Kode colour for the door panelling.
