In the northern part of Bondi Beach, one of Sydney's most iconic locations, Jaime Interiors studio has created a home that translates the essence of Australian coastal style into a contemporary and serene language. The project, named The Beach House Project, is built on a palette of earthy and neutral tones, natural materials, and a seamless connection with the surroundings.
The designer and founder of the studio, Jaime, explains that her passion for interiors began at a very young age. 'I’ve always had the intuition to walk into a space and visualise how it could be transformed. I feel fortunate that my work is completely aligned with one of my greatest passions,' she states. This sensitive approach to materials and spatial experience is evident in every detail of this home bathed in Pacific light.
The materials—wood, rattan, and linen—add texture and warmth, while the open layout and large windows allow natural light to flow through the interior unobstructed. The result is a home that exudes calm and timelessness, designed to complement the relaxed pace of life by the sea.
Dekton Nacre: texture, durability, and harmony
In the kitchen, the true heart of the project, Jaime Interiors chose the ultracompact surface Dekton Nacre by Cosentino, whose cream colour evokes the look of fine microcement and lime stucco. Its finish, characterised by subtle watermarks and a textured gradient, provides tactile depth and high sensory value that perfectly complements the home's natural aesthetic.
'We loved both the texture and the colour,' the studio comments, finding in this material the ideal way to visually connect the kitchen with the rest of the house. Initially, they had planned to work with a thickness of 40 mm, but ultimately opted for 20 mm 'because otherwise, we wouldn’t have been able to curve the island,' Jaime explains. That gentle curvature, along with the use of travertine tiles under the island and behind the bar, gives the ensemble a handcrafted and light appearance, almost sculptural.
Dekton Nacre offers exceptional resistance to heat, stains, and scratches, a key advantage in a high-use space like the kitchen. 'It fit perfectly with our concept,' the design team confirms. That’s why they also chose it for the bathroom benchtop.
The client, on the other hand, highlights the ease of maintenance compared to natural stone: 'We loved its appearance, with that beige concrete look, but without the need for constant care.' Thus, the surface manages to maintain its beauty over time, even against salty humidity and daily use.
Relaxed elegance and material coherence
The visual coherence of the project extends from the kitchen to the living and dining areas, unified by a soft and warm colour range that reflects the light of the sea and the beach sand. Every element—from rattan furniture to linen fabrics—contributes to creating an immersive and relaxed atmosphere, free of pretence.
The result is a contemporary coastal home where natural materials coexist with cutting-edge technical solutions. The Beach House Project encapsulates Jaime Interiors' philosophy: spaces that convey balance, comfort, and naturalness, designed to withstand the passage of time without losing their freshness.
