Cosentino x ARC Tile Design: embracing sustainability through art
Cosentino Australia partners with Adelaide-based ARC Tile Design to create two captivating mosaic art walls conveying a message of sustainability. Featuring Sunlit Days and Ethereal collections from Silestone, the beautiful art walls Water and Leaf, were recently unveiled in Melbourne by VP Cosentino Oceania, Itay Shimony.
In an inspiring evening with special guest and Brand Ambassador for Cosentino Oceania, Peter Maddison, the event was a celebration of Cosentino’s commitment to bringing innovative, sustainable and environmentally-friendly products to the industry forefront. During the event, Maddison shared his viewpoint on the topic of innovation and sustainability in a Q&A session led by Miffy Coady, Managing Director of Est Living.
When Cosentino reached out to the team at ARC Tile, the design brief was simple – create a captivating visual art piece inspired by the ‘new’ Silestone, to bring people together with a message to care for our environment, our planet. And they delivered beyond the aesthetics.
This ties in with Cosentino’s own core values and purpose to inspire people through innovative and sustainable spaces. As a global leader in the surfaces industry, Cosentino is taking the lead to define a better future through its products and how they are produced. The ‘new’ Silestone manufactured with HybriQ+® technology sits at the forefront of this revolution – more recycled minerals and materials and less crystalline silica*. At the production level, HybriQ+® technology includes Cosentino’s own environmental milestones such as the use of 99% reused water, 100% renewable electric energy and zero water waste.

says Daniela Antonuccio, chief designer at ARC Tile Design.
Measuring 300 cm by 160 cm, each of the panel's bright and colourful patterns are made up of fluid and organic cut-outs of the Mediterranean-inspired Sunlit Days and classic whites of Ethereal collections symbolising the life-giving sources of nature. The mosaic-making process led by brothers, Jamie and Luigi Antonuccio, took almost three weeks to complete for its unveiling journey from Adelaide to Melbourne.
Water represents Cosentino’s commitment to a circular economy and sustainable manufacturing processes which reuses 99% of its water.
“Cosentino uses recycled water [in the production process], so it was only natural to be drawn to the element and its everchanging movement which is symbolic in the movement forward in conserving one of our planet’s most valuable resources,” adds Daniela Antonuccio.
Leaf reflects Cosentino’s affirmation to working with renewable energy to fuel its production processes.
“Trees and plants create one of our most survival factors – oxygen. Harnessing renewable energy instead of depending on finite resources helps conserve these life-giving structures. A single leaf acts as a reminder how something so small can play such a large part,” explains Daniela Antonuccio.
