Marble is one of the most widely used natural stones throughout history for its unique beauty, elegance and endless applications in terms of design and architecture. The question would rather be: have marble-look finishes ever gone out of fashion? The truth is that in recent years, the marbled print has crossed the boundaries of architecture and has become part of fashion design and even graphic design.

For the 2022-23 season, luxury explores more exuberant versions of nature and craftsmanship. A dramatic colour scheme is used, metals such as gold and natural stones in bright colours are mixed with floral wallpapers.

Another benefit of the marble effect  is that it provides the warmth and naturalness so desired by designers and interior designers, adding delicate nuances that connect us with nature.

Endless design possibilities

Marble-effect surfaces offer so many colours and textures that they can fit anywhere in the home, even beyond the kitchen worktop. They can be used for wall cladding, furniture, flooring, bathroom cladding, shower trays, outdoor kitchens, etc.

Resistance and low maintenance

The main disadvantages of marble are its poor resistance to staining and heat. Therefore, a better option is the ultra-compact Dekton technical stone or the hybrid surface of premium materials, Silestone, which make up for all these technical shortcomings, achieving an equally attractive and natural design.

Another difference between them is the thickness of the material, as quality natural stone is only available in thicknesses of 20 to 30 mm. However, Dekton is available in thicknesses of 8, 12 and 20 mm and even 4 mm, allowing it to be used for multiple applications, from floors, worktops, furniture, walls and façades, thus optimising weight and time on site.

The new Dekton Onirika collection confirms the trend

Onirika is a collection that unites the poetic and unique beauty of stones harnessed by Dekton technology. The collection is named after the lavish inspiration of two worlds conveyed in marble-inspired colours to captivate our eyes and to infuse any space with a feeling we understand but cannot explain.

‘Onirika is not intended to imitate any existing natural stone, but to create something so unique and beautiful that it cannot be replicated,’ says Nina Magon, the designer who created the collection along with Cosentino.

The collection consists of 8 completely different marble-inspired colours, which can be combined with other noble materials such as wood, metal and other natural stones, among others.
