A sophisticated black-and-white kitchen forms the heart of this Australian home, featuring contemporary shapes, materials, and colours. The wooden flooring adds warmth to the space, which is elevated with elegance through details like the island's curves, bronze-coloured handles, and artistic pieces.
To complement this modern yet refined look, Madison Interiors also chose to create a set of benchtops and splashback in Dekton Marina. With a velvet-like texture, its pattern is inspired by the whimsical salt patterns left by the receding tide on sand and rocks.
The asymmetrical grey veining on a white base of Dekton Marina, which reinterprets the classic elegance of Carrara marble, serves as the perfect transition to blend the black lower cabinetry with the white upper cabinetry.
Modern art deco and understated luxury
“Forrest is an exercise in simplicity through layered design and sleek, dark interior architecture: an elegant nod to modern art deco. The soft wood grains meet bold black aluminium doors, fluted glass, and curved furniture, creating a rich interplay of contrasts and textures through light and shadow,” begins Shivani Gounder, head of Madison Interiors.
She continues: “The kitchen features fluted glass cabinetry that adds a touch of serene intensity, reinforcing the art deco narrative without overwhelming it. The benchtop in Dekton Marina anchors the space with understated luxury. Here, form and function go hand in hand: every high-end detail is meticulously thought out, and every finish tells its own story.”
Surfaces to admire and enjoy worry-free
Gounder used Dekton in this space because it allowed her to combine the refinement she sought with the functionality needed for the busy family life of the home's residents. She valued its high durability and resistance to heat and UV rays, which also benefits the surface of the custom curved TV unit. For this application, the studio used another colour, Dekton Doomos, a graphite black with a sober yet luxurious appearance that pairs well with the stained wood.
“Dekton aligns with our commitment to timeless, low-maintenance design, combining elegance, durability, and ease of care in a single surface,” summarises the professional, who with this project perfectly reflects the philosophy of Madison Interiors: “Meticulous attention to detail, timeless materials, and spaces that are as enjoyable as they are admirable.”
