When it came to creating a luxe look for his new design showroom in Double Bay, Interior Architect Jamal G, Founder and Principal at Frenchitecture, turned to the stunning surfaces in the Cosentino range. “I call this space my ‘dream factory’ – I wanted to create a unique experience for clients from the minute they walk in the door. But this is also where I mentor and train architects and designers, so the finishes needed to not just be beautiful, but durable and long-lasting too. Having worked with Cosentino surfaces for over a decade, I knew they ticked every box.”

Curved Island

A show-stopping, curved island crafted from Sensa by Cosentino® in Indian Black is the centerpiece of the space. “Being a natural stone, Sensa® allowed me to create wonderfully soft, organic curves. And I adore this dramatic colourway – it has depth and a variety of colours that makes it look like an ocean of precious stones,” says Jamal. For the ultimate in seamless sophistication, the island benchtop also features a sink crafted from the same Sensacolour, Indian Black.

“When clients come in, they’re immediately drawn to this curved island and can’t resist touching its soft lines and impeccable joins,” he says.

Jamal balanced out the bold island with lighter benchtop, spalshback and rangehood in Dekton® Entzo – a luxurious ultracompact surface with delicate gold veining. “Dekton® is an incredibly tough material that’s ideal for hardworking kitchens – it’s scratch-, heat-, UV- and just about everything resistant,” he says. Jamal also carried through this marble-look Dekton® Entzo to the cupboard linings to create an unexpected little moment of luxury.

For the wall cladding and island joinery, the designer specified Dekton® Kelya, which has a rich, decadent vibe. “Dekton® comes in super-sized slabs up to 3200 x 1440 mm in size, which allowed me to perfectly match the veins on the walls and joinery doors,” he says. Jamal then created a floating desk from Silestone® Calacatta Gold; “I needed a material that felt soft to the touch but was strong enough to cope with my drawings and work activities – this finish is ideal,” he says.

Jamal completed the showroom’s glam look with warm timber flooring, American Oak timber veneer with a Dulux Black Caviar finish to the rear cabinetry, bronze tapware and brass handles. “Not a day goes by that I don’t receive compliments about the unique colours and finishes here,” he says. “And Cosentino’s technology is so evolved that most of my clients can’t tell which finish is natural stone and which isn’t!”
