We spoke to Janine about how Dekton® makes her home beautiful and life easy.
How do you want your home to feel when you come home at the end of the day?
I truly believe a home is a sanctuary. I walk into my home and need to have a feeling of comfort, security, safety and warmth. Ideally, I also want it to be neat and tidy, but with three kids living at home it is a challenge.
Wolf Architects and Penny del Castillo of In Design International designed your new contemporary home. What was your brief for the materials?
One of the biggest challenges when creating a contemporary house is to have beautiful clean lines, but still make a house a home. It’s important that houses are beautiful, but also lived in. We chose Dekton®, stone, marble, brick and timber because they are natural, low-maintenance and have a modern, earthy finish.
Why did you choose Dekton®?
Dekton® is indestructible, beautiful and timeless, and it makes my home life easier.
How does Dekton® make your home life easier?
Dekton® takes stress out of my life. I’m a no-fuss person so it’s the simple things. If I need to cut fruit or vegetables, I don’t need to find a chopping board. If a dish is hot, I can place it on the benchtop without the stress that it will cause damage. If red wine is left on the counter, I am not worried that it will stain.
I also have Dekton® in my yoga room. This room is my space and I wanted to walk in and feel serenity. The colours are soft, there’s water in the background and nature on two sides. It’s a room that I feel happy in.

We are both no fuss, practical and appreciate interesting and beautiful things. I also like that Cosentino is always innovating to introduce new products that make home life and a healthy lifestyle easier.
What would like readers to know about Dekton® by Cosentino?
When you go down the path of choosing materials for your kitchen and bathroom, there are so many products out there. Having been through the process, I have to say that Dekton® is miles ahead of the rest. Dekton® is so durable and beautiful. I have it in my kitchen and bathrooms, and on my front door, fireplace and stair. The product has versatility like I have never seen before.
