Cosentino Design Challenge presents its 11th edition

Internationally recognised market leader in surface design and architecture, The Cosentino Group is launching the 11th edition of the international Cosentino Design Challenge. As with all CDC editions, the initiative encourages creativity among students of design and architecture around the world. Entries for the Australian challenge will be open from 24 March 2017 – 30 May 2017, and this year, for the first time, the prize for the Australian winner will include an internship with a multi-award winning Australian architectural practice.

Over 20 institutions, schools and specialist universities from Europe, Asia, Oceania and America are actively involved in the projection and development of CDC11. The Cosentino Group is also working in every country where it does business to give the contest maximum media and academic coverage.

Cosentino Australia is working with students at the University of Technology Sydney to take part in the architecture category of this year’s design challenge. Due to the ever increasing recognition around the world and progressive growth in participation, the CDC has now become a great challenge, based on research and innovation for future architecture and design professionals.

This year, the Architecture category asks students to reflect on “Cosentino and travel”, while the Design category is based on “Cosentino and technology”. Students are at liberty to develop their ideas with a single requirement, that the final project includes at least one Cosentino product.

After the jury chooses the winners in June 2017, the global winners will be announced worldwide. The prestigious jury will be made up of renowned figures in the world of architecture and design. Three first prizes will be awarded for each category, of 1,000€ each!

There will also be a local Australian judging panel and the local winner will be awarded with a two week fulltime paid internship at multi-award winning fjmt studio and an ipad mini. The internship will provide invaluable real world experience with an architectural practice dedicated to design excellence, and has a global presence, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, London and Oxford.

The submission period for final project designs closes on 30 May 2017 and all projects must be submitted exclusively in digital format via the competition website. Throughout this time, Cosentino Group can be contacted by students at idea@cosentinodesignchallenge.org and to answer any queries, Cosentino Center and Cosentino City showrooms all around the world will be open to any student to visit and discover the company’s wide range of products.
