Cosentino Group celebrates one year in Australia

26 November, 2012

Cosentino Group, the leader in the production and distribution of quartz surfaces, natural stone and reconstituted surfaces, is celebrating its one year anniversary in Australia, with new partners joining the business across the country.

Over the last 12 months, Cosentino has established relationships with Australia’s leading stone masons and distributors including Galvin Hardware, Heritage Stone and Silestone New Zealand.

Gary Isherwood, Country Manager for Cosentino Australia, comments “After launching in Australia just last year, we’re excited to have captured the attention of these major industry players.  We know we have a high quality product, so we made it a priority to establish a reliable and consistent national distribution strategy.

“Aligning with partners that have a strong local reputation for distributing quality products has been integral to our success,” adds Gary.

Will Galvin, Managing Director, Galvin Hardware, comments, “We jumped at the opportunity to bring a world-leading brand like Silestone® into the Australian market. It really was a natural choice to go with Cosentino, as we knew we’d not only be distributing the highest quality product in the market, but we would also be working with a family business,” adds Galvin.

Following the initial launch of Silestone®, Cosentino has bought a number of new ranges to the market including Eco by Cosentino®, the environmentally friendly offering, as well as the new Silestone® Nebula series.

Gary Isherwood comments, “Silestone® will always be the most popular of our product offerings. We have seen a positive reception of its bacteriostatic property, which guarantees maximum hygiene in all its applications. We have also seen Eco by Cosentino® gain a lot of traction in the market place. Australian consumers are increasingly looking for environmental options for their homes, so we’re pleased to be able to offer sustainable quartz surfacing in kitchens and bathrooms.

“We also have a range of new products scheduled for release in 2013. With new colours and textures, we’re excited to bring these offerings to Australian designers and architects. Now that we have a physical presence in Australia, we can ensure our customers have access to our new innovations and can quickly adapt and cater to the changing trends of the Australian market.”

The €3m ($4.2m AUD) investment in Australia came as part of the Group’s international expansion and diversification strategy. The first warehouse is located in Villawood, Sydney, also hosting the HQ office for the country, with plans for expansion in 2013. This will include a second warehouse and adjoined showroom in the Sydney CBD, as well as new distribution centres in major cities along the east coast of Australia.
