Cosentino Group, the world leader in the production and distribution of innovative architectural and design surfaces, ended 2014 with a sales presence and fixed assets on five continents, a milestone that was reached following the recent opening of a logistics platform in South Africa. In addition, Cosentino expects to end this year with a total turnover of 560 million Euros, representing an increase of 14.7% compared to 2013, with over 90% of its sales generated abroad.

This information was announced at the annual Strategic Conference that the multinational held at its headquarters in Almeria (Spain) on 15 and 16 December, and where the company’s top management came together.

This edition of these internal conferences was attended by about 70 people from all the countries where the company operates. This year’s event included the incorporation of representatives from the company’s new markets of Japan, Turkey, Israel, Canada and South Africa. Currently, Cosentino now operates directly with employees and fixed sales and production assets in 29 countries.

In his opening address, Francisco Martínez-Cosentino, President of Cosentino Group, highlighted the consolidation of the worldwide launch of the ultra-compact surface Dekton®, the gradual digitalisation of the organisation, — which in 2015 will have close to 3,000 employees — and the company’s unwavering commitment to job security at all the multinational’s production centres. It also set out to increase the diversification of niche markets as a future challenge, a goal for which a key role will be played by the incorporation of new talent, as well as increased internal promotion of employees based on their continuing education.

Regarding the balance sheet for this year, one of the most important achievements has been the increase in the group’s international diversification which is linked to the variety of innovative systems for applying to sales and distribution. Thus, 2014 led to the opening of 10 new Centres, one Cosentino City, and the establishment of two new markets via a sales office and as a logistics platform respectively.

As for markets, this year Cosentino has set up for the first time in countries such as Canada and Turkey, with 3 Centres in the latter. In addition, its position in Australia was strengthened with two new Centres, and in Asia it is now present in new countries, Malaysia, Japan and Singapore. To these the above-mentioned logistics platform in South Africa must be added.

Innovation has also played a key role this year thanks to the worldwide recognition of Dekton®, the multinational’s revolutionary ultra-compact surface that has garnered numerous awards. Dekton® has enabled the company to increase its activity in the world of architecture and design, as well as strengthen its presence in market segments such as façades and outdoor applications.

With this in mind, we must not forget partnerships with well-known individuals such as the architect Daniel Libeskind, including Cosentino’s presence for the first time at the Venice Architecture Biennale; with the Italian Italo Rota for Milan Design Week, and the most recent with the German Steffen Kehrle for the ‘House of Dekton’ project. With regard to sustainability, Cosentino was also present this year at the World Sustainable Building Conference, and it renewed its commitment with the Make it Right Foundation, whose president is the actor Brad Pitt.

And last but not least, Cosentino strengthened its ties over recent months with renowned figures in the fields of international sport and haute cuisine. Last October the company’s partnership agreement with the tennis player Rafael Nadal was announced. Its first action will be the contribution of a number of Cosentino materials to the Tennis Academy whose construction has begun in Manacor (Mallorca).

With regard to gastronomy, Cosentino’s participation with its brands and products has ranged from prestigious world events such as Madrid Fusión and the 50 Best Restaurants awards ceremony where it has participated many times, to recent partner projects with David Muñoz (DiverXo – Eurobuilding), Dani García (Hotel Puente Romano), and Diego Guerrero (DStage), among many others.
