Dekton®, Cosentino’s ultracompact surface for the world of architecture and design is now part of the Mutua Madrid Open. In an event held at the Caja Mágica today, tournament President and CEO, Gerard Tsobanian; tournament Director, Manolo Santana and Eduardo Martínez-Cosentino Alfonso, Global Commercial Director of Grupo Cosentino signed an agreement to make Cosentino’s brand an official sponsor of the only combined ATP World Tour Masters 1000 and WTA Premier Mandatory event in Europe.

Dekton®, currently sponsor of “Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar”, is an ultracompact surface that was born through Cosentino’s permanent commitment to innovation. It is a new type of material in the world of architecture and design, for both indoor and outdoor spaces. After just three years, Dekton® is already a brand recognised as a synonym for advanced technology, versatility and design, and it has won the hearts of recognised architects all around the world.

Gerard Tsobanian, President and CEO of the tournament was very happy after the event. “Cosentino has shown in recent years that it is very close to sport and sportsmen. That a company of such prestige has chosen the Mutua Madrid Open to continue exporting its national and international image is of great pride for us. The incorporation of Dekton® is new for the fifteenth anniversary of the tournament”.

Behind Dekton® is Cosentino, a global company that distributes innovative surfaces and solutions all over the world from its headquarters in Almeria. The multinational company is present in 32 countries and more than 90% of its turnover is generated on international markets, making the group the most internationalised Spanish company, according to the latest edition of the Atlas del Foro de Marcas Renombradas Españolas.

Despite still being a young brand, Dekton® already has ties to first-class sport. In 2013 and 2014, it was a personal sponsor of the current MotoGP champion, Jorge Lorenzo, and 2015 Rafa Nadal became the international face of Dekton®, due to the agreement with its Academy, by starring in the brand’s advertising campaign. Cosentino and another of its emblematic brands, Silestone®, has further ties with sport. We should not forget that Silestone® was the first Spanish brand, and so far the only one, to advertise at the USSuperBowl. The brand has also been one of the main collaborators with the NBA’s Houston Rockets during eight years and, continuing these links with leading Spanish sportsmen, it was a personal sponsor of Fernando Alonso for three seasons.

For Eduardo Martínez-Cosentino Alfonso, Global Commercial Director of Grupo Cosentino and CEO of Cosentino North America, “this agreement strengthens our relationship with the world of top-class sport on an international level, it continues and extends the current link that ties us to Rafa Nadal, which will continue this coming year. Finally, this connection with the Mutua Madrid Open will contribute to the consolidation of the Dekton® image as a world leader in the sector, thanks to the tournament’s prestige, as well as the coverage and the attraction the tournament generates in many of the countries where Cosentino is present”.

On the fifteenth anniversary of the Mutua Madrid Open, great world tennis stars such as Rafa Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams, Roger Federer, Garbiñe Muguruza, Maria Sharapova and Andy Murray will be delighting the crowds again in the Caja Mágica, which will be ultracompact this year thanks to Dekton® by Cosentino
