With more than 6,000 square metres of ultra-compact Dekton surfaces, Saba Estate received the International Asia Award at the Macael Awards 2022, held last November in Almería (Spain). The project, a stunning holiday rental villa, is designed by the architecture studio Artalenta and located by the sea in Bali, covering a surface area of 2,500 square metres. A summer villa with the soul of a resort comprising several independent but interconnected dwellings, pavilions, fully-equipped kitchens, swimming pools and lush tropical gardens.

The entire architectural design has been conceived with the coastal climate and the surrounding landscape in mind. Its materials and contemporary expression interact in its cubic and elongated volumes. Its flat cantilevered roof is suspended above the structure, merging with the coastal landscape. The interior courtyards connect with the interior space, breaking the boundaries between indoors and outdoors and helping to ensure cross ventilation in the different spaces of the dwelling. Privacy is another key aspect of this design, where the architects arranged the buildings to maximise the effect of the environment protecting their inhabitants from prying eyes.

Matching colours on the outside

Nature is part of the architectural structure itself, incorporating local materials and blending in with the colours of the context: the white-beige of the sand, the brown of the fertile soil and the green and blue, like the sea near the property. In this careful selection of textures and colours, Dekton is a key feature, both on the façades and in the interiors.

On the outside of the buildings, the architects opted for the colour Edora for the façade of the first floor. A warm grey that blends in well thanks to its neutral tone and is also present in the floor of the entire outdoor area, creating a perfect visual balance. Edora is used to give continuity to the floor and walls of the swimming pool and parking area. While the colour Kadum completes the visual interplay on the second floor façade, providing a brown shade that enhances the contemporary concept and contrasts with the lightness of Edora.

A sturdy façade

The use of Dekton on the façade guarantees a long service life, as the material is perfectly resistant to temperature changes and harsh weather conditions, as well as to possible corrosion, as the villa is located in a coastal area.

The Dekton fixing system used on the façade consists of cement-based adhesive on a continuous substrate, which allows for a minimum joint size of 3 mm between pieces, with grouting in the Dekton colour, and provides greater visual continuity to the façade panels. It is a very impact resistant system and allows for full piece sizes.

Luxury interiors

Luxury and comfort define the interiors of Saba Estate, featuring spacious rooms where Dekton also adds sophistication and quality. Nayla has been used for the walls and floors in the guest bathrooms and Valterra for all bedroom floors, as well as for the TV wall and to decorate all the bathrooms. While the Nayla colour conveys a sense of calm and cleanliness with its light neutral tone, Valterra manages to infuse warmth with its wood finish.

The Opera colour, with its veining inspired by the elegant Italian Carrara marble, finishes off this luxurious and classic atmosphere that perfectly matches the modern touches of the design pieces.
