Cosentino Australia announces UTS as partner for the 7th International Cosentino Design Challenge Competition
Sydney, 26 March, 2013– Cosentino has announced the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) as the Australian partner school for its 2013 student design challenge, working with both the Schools of Architecture and of Industrial Design.
Cosentino is the global leader in the production and distribution of quartz and other natural stone surfaces. The 7th international Cosentino Design Challenge Competition includes two categories: Architecture and Design and is the second time the competition has been run in Australia.

We’re proud to help foster local student talent and promote research into the different conceptual approaches regarding the layout of spaces and materials.” Moreover, all the research and reflection present going into each project should be based on the basic principle of environmental friendliness, and those of the reuse of resources and waste management.
The competition is aimed at students enrolled in the 2013 Academic Year, studying design, architecture or interior architecture at any tertiary educational centre or polytechnic in the world. The partner school agreement entitles the students to additional opportunities such as visits to the local Cosentino warehouse and guest lecturers.

This year, for the Design category, students are required to reflect on ‘Cosentino and the office’, and to present any kind of design proposal they choose on this subject, using materials by Cosentino. For the Architecture category, the focus is on a ‘new conceptual approach for an outdoor kitchen’, using materials by Cosentino.
There will be three first prizes of $1,280AUD each, three consolation prizes and three special mentions chosen by the judges. The judges, figures of acknowledged prestige in the world of architecture and design, will make their decisions known during the month of June 2013.
UTS is in great company, with twelve prestigious international schools signing on to be part of the 2013 Cosentino Design Challenge including: American Society of Interior Designers (United States); University of Technology Sydney (Australia), Design Academy Eindhoven (Netherlands), Istituto Europeo di Design Milano and Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano (Italy); Hochschule für Technik, Wirtschaft und Kultur Leipzig (Germany); and Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona, Escuela Superior de Diseño de Madrid, Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Sevilla, Escuela de Arte de Almería and Escuela de Arte Superior de Diseño de Alicante (Spain).
