A total of 500 square metres, bar, cinema room, gym, three-car garage, garden, and views of a beautiful lake. These are some of the features of The Sterling, the grand prize of the 2025 edition of the CHEO Dream of a Lifetime Lottery. It is a charity project driven by the CHEO Foundation, the support association for the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Canada. The organisation offers enticing rewards with the aim of selling as many tickets as possible and raising money for those in need.
Thus, to build this home, companies present in the country have once again donated all kinds of materials. For their part, the Minto Group team took charge of the architecture, and interior designer Tanner Vine handled the decoration, also altruistically.
In this new edition, Vine has decided to reinterpret the glamorous art deco style. “From the moment you enter, you are greeted by the clean lines and geometric elegance that defined the 1920s, now reimagined with modern materials and a softer, more liveable feel. This is evident in the subtle interplay between curves and symmetry and in the rich yet restrained material palette, featuring lacquered woods, layers of warm and neutral textures, fluted glass, and polished metals. All these elements create a harmonious blend of vintage charm and contemporary sophistication,” he explains.
Accustomed to using Cosentino products in his daily work, the professional has utilised around twenty pieces from the Spanish brand based in Ontario to create a bespoke, top-tier design for the house.
New colours
“I was particularly excited to include some of the new additions to the Cosentino collection within the Dream Home. Specifically, Silestone Chateau Brown, Silestone Jardin Emerald, and Silestone Riviera Rose. These choices not only magnificently complement the art deco aesthetic of the home but also highlight the superior quality and innovative design that Cosentino consistently brings to the industry,” says the interior designer.
The first of these Silestone colours, Chateau Brown, is a subtle marbled design with an elegant dark brown base full of brightness thanks to its metallic reflections in copper pink and bronze, and it is featured on the two worktops of one of the bathrooms. Silestone Jardin Emerald, on the other hand, inspired by green marble and with a sophisticated pattern of golden veins also with metallic reflections and notes of black and cream, was used for the vanity worktop. Lastly, Silestone Riviera Rose, with its seemingly anarchic sea of taupe grey and blush pink veins on a warm white background, is seen on the worktop of the mudroom, a space designed for removing shoes, coats, or backpacks upon arriving home.
Charitable goal
For the designer, it was also important to use a wide range of Cosentino products to “express my gratitude for the brand's generous collaboration and donation to the CHEO Dream Home.” “It is truly inspiring to see the company's commitment to such a valuable cause. Thank you once again for your continued support of the project.”
“It is a privilege to work with materials that combine exceptional performance with striking visual beauty, and these new colours are a testament to Cosentino's leadership in its field,” explains Vine.
