During the Macael Awards ceremony, held in Granada, Spain, on Friday, November 12, 2021, the North America International Award was presented to KINDREE CHESCOE and its design studio KLC KREATIV for their residential project located in Langley, BC. The project was also in collaboration with the McClean Design Architecture Studio in California.

The Macael Awards are presented by the Andalusian Marble Industry Association, the leading natural stone association located in the Almeria region of Spain. Now in its 36th year, the awards recognize exceptional projects and professionals in the architecture and design industries globally and have garnered a reputation as one of the most significant international award programs in the stone industry.

The design team worked closely with the Cosentino Showroom in Vancouver to incorporate the stone surfaces in the home. The North American winning project features over 107,000 sq. ft. of ultra-compact Dekton surfaces in several installations, including interior wall cladding, flooring, staircase, fireplace cladding, and countertops. Ideal for the outdoors, Dekton was also featured as exterior cladding, exterior flooring, stairs, and patio and garden walkways. Jesus Carreño Carrillo, General Manager, Western Region for Cosentino Canada, attended the ceremony to help accept the award.

“This is an extraordinary project for Cosentino. The multitude of Dekton applications throughout the home is a testament to how versatile the ultra-compact surface can be,” said Jesus Carreño Carrillo, General Manager, Western Region for Cosentino Canada. “We are thrilled that a Canadian project was awarded Macael’s North America International Award this year, which was a true collaboration of partners on both sides of the border. This project is in a class of its own, and all those who had a hand in the build should be very proud.”

The one-of-a-kind project was designed using Dekton’s Helena and Korus and customized Dekton colours - Ventus Portobello and Marquina Fossil. The use of these custom colours helped the design team achieve a smooth aesthetic, where the stone could be used in large quantities without impacting or saturating different areas of the home. It also provided a transition from interior to exterior, paying tribute to the beautiful outdoor surroundings where the house is located.

Cosentino’s Silestone natural quartz surfaces were also used throughout the home, providing a fresh and clean look in the kitchen and bath areas. Silestone’s Ocean Jasper was used for the main kitchen countertops, with Ocean Storm used as the bar counter. Silestone’s Iconic White and Corktown were both used for the bathrooms.
