 IDC, Interior Designers of Canada, celebrates 50 years as the national advocacy association for interior designers in Canada. With great pride, Cosentino not only hosted, but was a key sponsor of the annual symposium held at the Toronto Cosentino City Showroom on October 19 and 20.

The showroom welcomed over 150 designers and industry leaders during the two-day event that featured several keynote sessions, networking opportunities, and the Value of Design Awards (VODA) ceremony.

Thanks to our speakers and forward-thinking panellists, our participants had the opportunity to reflect on the issues our industry is facing today and seek solutions for a better future for the next generations of interior designers.

Known as the “Hip-Hop Architect,” Michael Ford shared his insight into hip-hop architecture, an alternative to the western canon architecture and urban theory that celebrates diversity while encouraging people of colour to take an interest in design.

Attendees also had the opportunity to take an offsite tour and explore the creative office designs of companies Spin Master and Flight Centre.

The two-day symposium concluded with the Value of Design Awards (VODA), a prestigious ceremony that highlights the work of various experts from the interior design community. Congratulations to this year’s winners and thank you to everyone who attended!
