Nestled along the shoreline in British Columbia, this expansive waterfront residence redefines modern luxury through thoughtful design and material innovation. The custom home, envisioned by the team at Artwood Designs, blends natural beauty with contemporary architecture. At the heart of the home lies a diverse application of Cosentino surfaces inside and out.
The inspiration for integrating Cosentino materials began serendipitously when the lead designer at Artwood Designs visited Canary Custom’s fabrication shop and came across Dekton. Captivated by its aesthetic and performance capabilities, the team quickly expanded the vision to incorporate a broad range of both Dekton and Silestone materials throughout the luxury residence. A collaboration between Cosentino, Artwood, and the homeowners led to a fully integrated design strategy that spanned exterior facades, interior walls, floors, cabinetry, and countertops.
The decision to use Cosentino materials was a natural step guided by a combination of aesthetic ambition, technical requirements, and the desire to collaborate with trusted local guilds. The materials also met the demanding architectural specifications and the climatic challenges of the Canadian coast. Thanks to their high mechanical resistance, ice-thaw durability, UV protection, and resilience in saline and aggressive environments, Dekton is the optimal choice for the façade. Additionally, it is a Carbon Neutral product with a 25-year warranty.
One of the main challenges was ensuring that the ventilated façade of the house, clad in Dekton Laos and Dekton Soke, maintained a minimum total depth of just 2 inches, including both the mechanical systems and the exterior panels. This was achieved using a ventilated façade system with concealed Keil anchors combined with Dekton's slim thickness. Dekton Laos was also applied through direct adhesion in certain areas of the façade.
The home is a study in contrast and cohesion. Inside, Dekton Rem floors stretch from room to room, blending effortlessly into interior wall cladding made of Dekton Kira, Dekton Rem, and Dekton iD Negro Tambora. This mix of tones and textures creates depth while maintaining a unified aesthetic. In functional spaces like the kitchen and laundry room, Silestone Faro White brings brightness and durability to work surfaces. The bathroom vanities and walls feature the drama of Silestone Et. Noir and the softness of Silestone Miami White, balancing mood and light. Even the cabinet facings take on a refined finish in Dekton Edora.
Cosentino stood out for its design-forward options, competitive pricing, and strong local support. The materials weren’t just beautiful, they were the right tools for achieving the design’s.
