Silestone by Cosentino has launched Sunlit Days, the first carbon-neutral collection in the quartz surfaces and engineered stone industry. This innovative milestone demonstrates the brand’s commitment to sustainability and highlights the environmental management steps Cosentino Group has taken over the past several years.

To achieve this new milestone, the company has committed to offsetting the CO² emissions of the entire life cycle of the Silestone Sunlit Days series. The company will rely on different voluntary offsetting projects that are certified and within the guidelines of the Voluntary Carbon Market. These efforts are also complemented by the brand’s partnership with Equilibrio Marino, a Spanish NGO that works towards preserving the Mediterranean seabed.

Sunlit Days is a collection of five colours inspired by the shades and nature found in the Mediterranean region. The series offers a journey through light and colour, with fresh style and a nod to tones of the Mediterranean, inspired by human values and simple yet profound ways of living. Faro White, Cincel Grey, Arcilla Red, Cala Blue and Posidonia Green are more than just the names of these five colours. They are individual tributes to the stories, experiences, expressions and ways of life of real people who have found their true essence through the Mediterranean.

Faro White & Mario, the last lighthouse keeper

One day, while in Madrid, Mario came across a newspaper advertisement offering training for lighthouse keepers. After a few months, he had successfully traded his life on land for a life at sea. Facing the 150 kilometres of the sea stretching to the horizon, the lights of Madrid were replaced by the single lantern of a lighthouse. For more than 28 years, Mario has been working at the Cabo de Gata Natural Park in Almeria as the last lighthouse keeper. While a new age of technology threatens his profession, his stories will continue to live on when he is gone.

Faro White is inspired by the lighthouses on the Mediterranean that guide the way for ships. This colour symbolizes purity, simplicity and serenity, representing the white of the Mediterranean and its sun-drenched walls characterized by a silky, smooth texture.

Cincel Grey & David, the luthier

Bathed in light from his workshop window, David labours with a smile across his face. Sketches and drawings of unique guitars are scattered across the workshop walls, while different scents of wood fill the air. David, originally from France, is a luthier based in Níjar, Almeria, who came to Spain for his job and stayed for the particular way of life, his love of the sun, the music and the magnetism of the land. His love is his art, and he enjoys every detail of his work, thinking about the journey and not the destination.

Fine-grained and silky in tone, Cincel Grey is a colour that performs best when bathed in light. Both neutral and versatile, it is balanced between warm and cool, offering a captivating soft texture.

Arcilla Red & the vine growers Rober and Maria del Mar

Located between the Sierra Nevada and the Sierra de Gádor, the peaceful Spanish region of Fondón is home to Rober and Maria del Mar and their vineyard. Ten years ago, they came to this small vineyard and established their connection with the land and nature by putting down roots. Their wine has a unique flavour, made exclusively from the grapes grown in the region’s rich clay soil. Fate, purity and passion define their way of life.

Defined by its earthy red shade, Arcilla Red represents how the Mediterranean breathes fire and vibrancy of life through parts of its geography. This colour makes one fall in love, tastes like wine, and smells of petrichor – the scent of when rain falls on dry soil. Passion and strength embody the spirit of this colour, which boasts a soft texture that blends harmoniously with its beauty.

Cala Blue, Posidonia Green, & sea conservationists Fernando and Marina

The Mediterranean lifestyle is a unique way of life that should be lived memorably and intensely. Its sea reflects this lifestyle, an ode to biodiversity with a dance of species coexisting in a constant, delicate balance. More than 12,000 native plants and animals inhabit the Mediterranean Sea, many of them endangered by plastic pollution. Fernando and Marina are part of Equilibrio Marino, an NGO whose mandate is to clean up and collect discarded plastics, nets and tools from reefs, sea beads, beaches and coastlines. Recognizing these efforts, Cosentino has committed to an initiative through Equilibrio Marino to revitalize the Posidonia meadows, which are necessary to reduce CO² and restore marine life.

Cala Blue embodies the sea, the breeze, the vastness and the infinite horizon of the Mediterranean. A deep and sophisticated shade of blue, it vibrates among the elements that surround it, with a texture that mimics the caress of the sea.

Posidonia Green is a reflection of the treasured meadows found on the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea. Its soft and delicate texture is balanced by its energy and joy, ready to surprise, hypnotize and conquer.
