We’re delighted to showcase the Lake Bonavista renovation, a complete transformation of a charming bungalow into a warm and sophisticated executive home. The original home had undergone several piecemeal renovations, but after living in it for several years, the lawyer couple engaged the talented Stephanie Martin to reimagine it to suit their lifestyle and reflect their personalities.
The designer understood her client’s passion for travel, entertaining, and desire for their home to be a retreat from their demanding careers. Based on this, the firm developed a design based on their professional interpretation of their needs.
The resulting palette is warm, rich, and deeply layered with a thoughtful interplay of materials. The expansive kitchen island is the focal point, with Dekton Taga countertops with waterfall edges. Its inherent non-porous nature offers unparalleled resistance to stains from wine spills, cooking splatters, and everyday wear and tear. Aesthetically, Dekton Taga and its rich, warm palette with subtle veining introduced an organic feel and gentle sense of movement to the otherwise clean and contemporary design.
The dramatic 5 cm mitered edge detail, cascading down the waterfall edges of the island, not only showcased the thickness and quality of Dekton but also added a significant architectural interest. Extending the use of Taga is a full-height backsplash encasing the kitchen window. The continuity from island to backsplash created a strong visual connection and provided a highly durable, easy-to-clean surface.
Complementing the statement island is Silestone Poblenou for the perimeter countertops. While offering excellent durability and stain resistance, Silestone provided a harmonious contrast in tone and texture to the Dekton Taga. Its selection allowed the designer to layer the material palette within the kitchen, adding subtle visual distinction while maintaining a harmonious aesthetic.
The same gray shade from the LOFT collection was also used in the bathroom vanity tops, creating yet another layer of cohesion within the home.
In the living room, the original wood-burning fireplace was updated with a Dekton Kelya mantle, surround, and flush hearth. The dark color with its rich tapestry of tones and intricate veining offered a sophisticated and natural look, which complemented the textured wood of the fireplace design.
The selection of Dekton and Silestone was a deliberate choice by Martin, driven by a deep understanding of her clients and their vision for the home. The home was envisioned as a central hub for connection, marked by a love for cooking, sharing wine, and hosting gatherings. Their desire for a space where they could enjoy their hobbies without worries immediately pointed them towards the exceptional attributes of Cosentino materials.
“By sourcing Cosentino materials that could effortlessly withstand the demands of real life while exuding beauty and sophistication, we empowered our clients to truly relax and enjoy their beautifully transformed home for years to come.”
