Architecture in the Spotlight|A Look Back at the 2025 RAIC Evening in Montreal
On the evening of June third, as the sun dipped behind the Montreal skyline, the lights came up on an unforgettable celebration. Cosentino City Montreal had the privilege of hosting the official reception for the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada’s 2025 College of Fellows Convocation. This gathering was far more than another event on a professional calendar. It was a warm and genuine moment shared among those who shape the built environment with intention, creativity and responsibility.
Guests arrived at 240 Rue Saint-Jacques, Suite 110, to an elegant and welcoming atmosphere. From established architects to emerging talent, from design partners to media representatives, every person was greeted with thoughtful hospitality.
Inside, the space had been completely transformed. A stilt-walking violinist filled the air with music, beautifully crafted hors d’oeuvres made the rounds, and the evening’s curated cocktail menu brought together flavour and flair.
Celebrating the RAIC College of Fellows
At the heart of the evening was the formal induction of the newest members into the RAIC College of Fellows. This symbolic and deeply meaningful moment honoured those whose careers reflect lasting contributions to Canadian architecture through excellence, leadership and service.
More than a recognition ceremony, the event became a space for meaningful conversation. It allowed peers to reconnect, share ideas and reflect on the future of the profession. The mood was festive and uplifting while grounded in respect for the legacy and the innovation that define architectural practice in Canada.

The 2025 RAIC Conference on Architecture
This memorable evening formed part of the larger RAIC Conference on Architecture, held from June first to fourth at the Hôtel Bonaventure Montreal. After several years of virtual gatherings, the architectural and design community came together once again in person.
The conference offered over forty sessions of continuing education, organized around eight key themes that speak to today’s most urgent and inspiring conversations in architecture:
- Climate justice and resilience
- Equity, diversity, inclusion and social justice
- Indigenous-led design and architectural practice
- Health, safety and accessibility
- History, heritage and cultural preservation
- Housing, planning and urban design
- Innovation in materials, technology and construction
- Architectural business and practice development
With its clear focus on education, collaboration and thought leadership, the conference empowered professionals with the knowledge and tools to build a more inclusive and sustainable future.
