British Columbia’s Home Design Secret | The Knott Residence with Cosentino Surfaces

Completed in spring 2024, the Knott Residence is a distinctive example of residential design that balances bold modernity with understated elegance. Located in British Columbia, this home reflects a collaborative vision between the Knott Family and Artwood Design, bringing together thoughtful architecture, design, and craftsmanship.

A Design-Driven Collaboration

At the core of the project is a close partnership between the Knott Family and Artwood Design. Early on, Artwood’s design team discovered Dekton Trilium while visiting Canary Custom’s fabrication shop. Inspired by its refined appearance and exceptional performance, they began to incorporate a broader range of Cosentino materials into the home’s design.

Following consultations with Cosentino representatives and the homeowners, the project’s scope expanded considerably from custom millwork to extensive applications including flooring, façades, countertops, and cabinet facing.

Innovative Use of Cosentino Materials

The integration of Cosentino surfaces throughout the home is both extensive and intentional. The façade stands out as a technical achievement. Utilizing the Keil system by U-Kon, 1.2 centimetre thick Dekton panels in Laos and Soke cover more than 2,400 square feet of the exterior. An additional 550 square feet of thinner, 4 millimetre Laos panels are directly adhered to the façade.

One of the unique challenges was ensuring the façade’s alignment with adjacent wood features while working within a total ventilation space of just five centimetres, including mechanical systems and the Dekton cladding. The result is a sleek, seamless exterior that highlights clean lines and modern sophistication.

Inside the home, Dekton Rem flooring extends over 8,000 square feet in two custom tile sizes, creating a continuous flow that visually connects rooms. Complementing this are vertical applications of Dekton Kira, Rem, and Negro Tambora on walls, paired with Silestone Et Noir in select interior spaces.

Dekton Edora panels clad cabinetry, elevating the millwork with a sleek, durable finish that balances beauty and practicality. Countertops feature Silestone Faro White in the kitchen and laundry rooms, while Et Noir and Miami White are selected for bathroom surfaces. Each material was chosen not only for its aesthetics but also for its resistance to heat, scratches, and fading, ensuring longevity and performance throughout the home.

Skilled Craftsmanship Brings Vision to Life

The flawless execution of the Cosentino materials was made possible by expert trades deeply familiar with the brand’s standards. Façade installation was completed by Façade Anthem and U-Kon, interior flooring by Jivko Contracting, countertops fabricated by Canary Custom, and cabinet facing finished by Carson Finishing.

This network of skilled professionals ensured that every surface met the highest levels of precision and quality, translating the design vision into tangible, lasting beauty.
