Cosentino’s First Global Trend Report Shakes Up the Industry
Toronto, Ontario – Spring 2025
What does the future look like? At Cosentino, the answer begins with curiosity, imagination, and a whole lot of collaboration. This year marks a bold new chapter for the surfacing leader as they launch their very first Global Trend Report, titled Shaping Tomorrow: Future Design & Architecture—and it’s already making waves across the world of architecture and interior design.
This isn’t your average trend guide. With more than 400 pages of insight, case studies, interviews, colour palettes, textures, and storytelling, the report dives deep into the human side of design. It’s a thoughtful roadmap for what’s ahead, anchored by five macro-trends: Origin, Solace, Nature, Urban, and Wonder.
But let’s rewind a little.

A Global Vision, Grounded in Local Experience
Cosentino has always been a global brand with local roots—and that’s what makes this report so unique. Shaped by the perspectives of over 200 professionals, from architects and designers to journalists and material experts, the report was built on coolhunting methodology and one-on-one interviews. Each page is a glimpse into how our spaces are evolving, and more importantly, why.
For Canadians, where design is often influenced by our rich cultural diversity, deep connection to nature, and desire for functional beauty, these trends feel especially relevant.
Let’s take a closer look at the five trends shaping tomorrow.
1. Origin – Rooted in Heritage
The Origin trend invites us to look inward and honour where we come from. It’s about designing with cultural memory and craftsmanship in mind—whether that’s through handmade details or local materials.
“Genuineness and craft activism guide us to collaborate with artisans and support handcrafted elements that celebrate tradition,” says designer Nina Magon.
Expect warm, nostalgic hues like burgundy, vintage greens, and terracotta, paired with finishes like Dekton Kraftizen Umber and Ceppo. These are surfaces that tell a story.

2. Solace – Spaces That Soothe
After years of turbulence, we crave comfort. The Solace trend is about designing for our emotions—creating spaces that are gentle, sensory, and supportive of mental wellness.
Think soft, embracing colours like aquas, peaches, and warm neutrals, with delicate finishes like Silestone Le Chic Bohème Versailles Ivory and Dekton Onirika Trance. The future home, as Spanish designer Patricia Bustos puts it, is a “sanctuary.”

3. Nature – Sustainability Reimagined
With Nature, sustainability moves from buzzword to design philosophy. This trend focuses on repurposing, reducing, and reconnecting with our environment through design choices that matter.
Inspired by natural materials—wood, wool, eco-resins—and colours like avocado green and ecru, Nature redefines what it means to design consciously. Canadian homeowners will appreciate options like Silestone Sunlit Days Posidonia Green and Dekton Pietra Kode Grigio, offering both performance and a lighter footprint.

4. Urban – Building Smarter Cities
From Toronto to Vancouver, Canada’s cities are changing fast. The Urban trend embraces this shift with designs that reflect versatility, modularity, and the new realities of city life.
How do you create calm in the chaos? By blending heritage with innovation, with finishes like Silestone Urban Crush Brass Relish and Dekton Pietra Edition Trevi. This trend brings together concrete textures, bold colours, and flexible spaces where we can live, work, and play.

5. Wonder – Reigniting Creativity
Finally, Wonder brings us back to joy. This trend is all about curiosity, surprise, and bold storytelling through design. Expect colourful contrasts, experimental forms, and a resurgence of playful elements—like textured vessels, recycled mosaics, and rich, shifting hues like bluish-reds and near-black purples.
“Play and wonder are concepts that redefine creativity and user-centered experience in design,” says Turkish architect Yeşim Kozanlı.
More Than a Report—It’s a Movement
As Eduardo Cosentino, CEO of Cosentino North America, puts it:
“These case studies represent the designs of tomorrow, and our mission as a brand is to serve the design community with products that give them the tools to bring their visions to life.”
Whether you're an interior designer, architect, or homeowner dreaming of your next project, Cosentino’s new report offers not just inspiration—but direction.
Because shaping tomorrow doesn’t start with the future.
It starts with the decisions we make today.
