L’Oeil Clinique|Bringing Vision to Life in Montreal
It started with a vision, and a challenge.
Nestled in the heart of Griffintown, Montréal, L’Oeil Clinique was meant to be more than just an optometry clinic. It needed to be a refined, welcoming, and innovative space that would reflect the client’s high standards and their clientele’s discerning eye for design. When the team at Iluce Concepts was brought on, they were handed 3D renderings created by a foreign designer, beautiful, ambitious, and filled with promise.
But there was a catch.
The renderings, while visually stunning, weren’t accompanied by any plans, specs, or details about how to bring them to life. No materials. No lighting design. No clear technical path. Just a look, a feeling, that needed to become real.
Bridging the Gap
Faced with this challenge, Iluce Concepts took on the role of interpreter, problem-solver, and creator. Every choice had to be intentional, and every detail reconsidered from the ground up.
What materials could deliver the level of elegance the renderings promised, but hold up to the wear and tear of a busy commercial space?
That’s when the team turned to Cosentino’s Dekton collection. More than just a surface, Dekton offered the perfect blend of durability, scale, and aesthetic depth, exactly what was needed to bring the L’Oeil Clinique vision to life, without compromise.

The Materials that Made the Space
Three Dekton finishes became the backbone of the design:
- Dekton REM Matte
- Dekton REM
- Dekton Ukiyo
Each was chosen not just for how it looked, but for what it added to the story of the space.
REM & REM Matte: Quiet Luxury
With their marble-inspired veining and soft matte finish, REM and REM Matte brought a timeless elegance to the project. These surfaces offered more than just visual appeal, they softened the lighting, reduced glare, and added a subtle texture that patients and staff would interact with every day.
They were used throughout the clinic: from the consultation table to floating display shelves, acting as visual anchors that grounded the space in calm, approachable luxury.
Ukiyo: The Artful Contrast
To complement REM’s timelessness, Dekton Ukiyo introduced a more daring, expressive note. Installed on a striking curved feature wall, Ukiyo became the artistic statement of the clinic, bold yet balanced, abstract yet intentional.
This wall, now one of the space’s most talked-about elements, was brought to life with floating shelves in REM and custom LED lighting designed in collaboration with SOUL LED Tech + Design. Every beam of light was placed to draw out the texture, shadow, and tone of the surface, an experience as much as a feature.

The Table that Says It All
One of the most memorable elements of the space is also one of the most practical: the consultation table. Crafted from a blend of REM and Ukiyo, the table is a physical metaphor for the project itself, a union of refinement and innovation, aesthetic and function. It’s where patients sit, questions are answered, and trust is built. It’s also where materiality becomes tangible.
A True Collaboration
This project was never about a single vision, it was about the collaboration that made it possible.
- Iluce Concepts led the charge, translating renderings into reality through craftsmanship, experimentation, and dozens of design decisions made on-site.
- Interior Design MTL offered support throughout, helping fine-tune key spatial details to ensure both form and function were considered.
- Vibrant Surfaces, the expert fabricator, played a crucial role in executing the Dekton installations with precision, ensuring the material’s full potential was realized in every cut, curve, and finish.
- The team made several visits to the Cosentino Montreal showroom, where the final finishes were selected with confidence—by touch, by eye, and in context.
- And of course, SOUL LED Tech + Design helped weave lighting into the architecture itself, bringing the Dekton surfaces to life.
Bringing It All Together
Designing L’Oeil Clinique wasn’t just about installing beautiful materials—it was about building trust, creating meaningful experiences, and transforming a digital concept into a physical reality.
With Dekton REM and Ukiyo, and with a dedicated team of creatives, makers, and collaborators, a blank space became something sophisticated, enduring, and unforgettable.
