Award-winning interior designer Theresa Casey has a passion for working with her clients to create truly unique and customized beautiful spaces. As the founder of Casey Design, a top Toronto-based interior design firm, Theresa is the only Canadian member of the Silestone Trendspotters, a group of leading North American design and architect influencers.

The Trendspotters program launched four years ago to provide Cosentino with an in-depth insight into design trends from the design industry’s prominent tastemakers.  “Our role as Trendspotters is to bring new colours to the market that we seek for our own projects and inspire the design community to think outside the box,” says Theresa.

Theresa’s journey with Cosentino began in 2014 when she joined a group of interior designers on a trip to Cosentino’s global headquarters in Spain. During the trip she had the opportunity to meet with the Cosentino family, visit the manufacturing facilities, as well as the stone quarries. Theresa says this was a very meaningful experience, giving her the chance to make a personal connection with the brand. “I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Cosentino. The quarries were awe inspiring, and the plant was fascinating. I felt like I was a kid in Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory.”

Following the trip, Theresa was asked to join five architects and interior designers to become the newest member of the Silestone Trendspotters. The team includes members from Florida, New York, Texas, Arizona, and California. The geographical diversity of these individuals allows the group to combine different markets and points of view when it comes to interior design.

Last year, the group was given the challenge to design a new surface unlike any other. After several meetings, brainstorming sessions, and trips to Spain to work with Cosentino’s Research and Development Team, a new unique surface series was born. Combining durable Dekton with sleek and sophisticated Silestone quartz; the Etchings Series was launched exclusively in the Canadian market at the ‘Taste of Dekton’ Toronto colour launch event this past June.

Watch this space for more on the Etchings series and Theresa’s advice on using this unique surface in the today’s design environment.
