The beautiful bathrooms of the 2020 Princess Margaret Show Home

Largely inspired by Art Deco sensibility, this year’s Princess Margaret showhome features angular designs, natural shades with sharp contrasts and geometric patterns. These elements carry throughout the home and provide beautiful detail in the bathrooms.

The Powder Room

Designer Brian Gluckstein of Gluckstein Design can make any design sing, even in the smallest spaces. Case in point, he pulled out all the stops with the showhome’s main floor powder room. He chose a dark and intimate approach featuring a metallic pleated wall covering and graphic panelling.  A nickel vanity topped with Dekton’s Sterling in 2cm fosters a luxurious feel throughout the space. Sterling is a colour that mimics travertine, a natural limestone deposited by mineral springs.

A prominent design element of the art deco period is geometric patterns, which were incorporated into the flooring by using carefully cut pieces of Dekton Sterling & Vegha in 12mm thickness.

Principal Bathroom

The principal bathroom was designed with optimal relaxation in mind. Perfectly cut pieces of Dekton’s Entzo, Danae and Kovik in 12mm thickness were used to create a statement geometric flooring that resembles a traditional art deco pattern. The variation in colours and this particular design creates an optical illusion of depth that is carried into the shower. The shower is entirely cladded with Dekton’s Entzo in 12mm and features a shower niche on the back wall.

Another standout feature of the bathroom is a wooden slatted screen that is placed behind the tub creating an at-home spa look and feel. A large soaker tub with a vintage inspired floor mount tub filler also helps to further carry the golden era style throughout the space.

Dekton’s Glacier in 2 cm was used to clad the extra-long double vanity and makeup table. Glacier, part of Dekton’s XGloss Collection, features subtle veins in golden tones across a high polished white background.

Shared Ensuite

Brian chose to design a shared bathroom between the two bedrooms to create a larger space, using a frosted glass enclosure surrounding the toilet and the shower for optimal privacy. In true Art Deco form, this bathroom was wrapped with a unique wallpaper creating a sharp contrast with the vanity and shower clad in Silestone’s Iconic White.
