On June 17th, many of the world’s leading architects and designers came together to celebrate AZURE Magazine’s 6th annual AZ Awards Design for Excellence held at the Evergreen Brick Works in downtown Toronto. Renowned journalist Ian Brown, the evening’s emcee, accurately described the event as the coolest gathering of people in Canada. New Dekton by Cosentino product was uniquely displayed and Sarah Benmagor, showroom Manager at Cosentino Centre Toronto took the stage to present the award for Best Landscape Architecture.

It was a global affair with over 826 submissions received from 52 countries.A total of 18 prestigious awards were presented throughout the evening in categories including interior design, architecture, products, concepts, student work and environmental leadership. Iconic Italian designer Gaetano Pesce was the guest of honour.

AZURE’s all-star international jury included: architect John Tong of +tongtong (Toronto), and Omer Arbel of Bocci (Vancouver), interior designer Anna Simone of Cecconi Simone (Toronto), landscape architect Thomas L. Gala attendees also got an exciting preview of the recently launched colours to join the Dekton Ultracompact Surfaces line. Cosentino showcased Glacier, Tundra, Trilium, Spectra and Fiord highlighting Dekton’s incredible durability in a unique way. Forget the pen and paper – a caricature artist was on hand to draw portraits of gala attendees on nothing other than a slab of Dekton’s Tundra. After each portrait was complete, the artist simply wiped the surface clean revealing Dekton’s stain proof resistance.
