After moving into her new home in Sherbrooke, Quebec, blogger and content creator Jaime Damak of Je Suis une Maman was thrilled to take on the renovation of her ensuite bathroom, a space she didn’t have in her last home. Opting for a soft, fresh colour palette to keep the bathroom feeling bright and timeless, Jaime completed the airy design with Silestone countertops. We caught up with her to find out more about the inspiration behind the zen ensuite and why she likes to call it her little haven of peace.

Tell us what sparked the inspiration for your bathroom design?

Since we were on a tight budget, we wanted to keep some elements of the existing bathroom, including the floor tile, bathtub and toilet. The plan was to keep the design theme similar to what we had established in the kitchen – a modern-rustic farmhouse look. When it came to the décor, I took to Pinterest for inspiration!

When planning out the space, did you come across any design challenges?

We really wanted to include some more storage in the space with the vanity, so we had to play with the design to make sure we were able to add it. The original bathroom included two pedestal sinks which we replaced with a wall-mounted double sink vanity complete with drawers for storage below.

Since we were designing an ensuite bathroom, I wanted to give the space a luxurious feel. To achieve this, we chose to invest in custom cabinetry and Silestone quartz countertops. The result is stunning!

What did you choose Silestone for your countertop surfaces?

The overall look is absolutely beautiful, but it also creates a connection with the kitchen, where we used the same shade for our countertops – Silestone Eternal Statuario in the suede finish. Together with the under-mount sinks and sleek faucet, the end result is really nice. The Silestone countertops are also easy to clean, so it’s quite optimal for a bathroom space.

What is your favourite thing about your bathroom space?

I can’t choose one thing. I love everything about the custom vanity! I also think the shower and panelling we installed gives the bathroom a nice “wow” factor. Keeping some of the old elements and style gives the bathroom the overall farmhouse look we were aiming to achieve.
