Dekton Surfaces Help to Create an Industrial Look at the Eclectic ICE Café

Dekton in Eclectic ICE CafeDekton by Cosentino helps to create an industrial feel at the ICE Café in Suffolk

The revolutionary ultra-compact surface, Dekton by Cosentino has been specified at the eclectic ICE Café in Suffolk.

Opened in 2019 by ICE Cookery School and Infusions4chefs owners John and Lou Jackaman, the ICE Café is well known for its quirky interior and impressive daytime menu, including indulgent breakfasts, burgers and shakes, as well as vegan and gluten free options.  Taking pride of place on the back wall, an extraordinary graffiti tribute to icons such as Freddie Mercury and Aretha Franklin provides a remarkable focal point as guests walk in, while wood and metal features help to create an industrial feel inside.

Dekton Radium and Trilium[L-R] Dekton Radium and Dekton Trilium

Fabricated by Marchetti Stone, Dekton was the surface of choice for the ICE Café’s bar area, where extravagant cocktails can be enjoyed.  Manufactured using up to 80% of recycled materials, bestselling Dekton Trilium and Dekton Radium from the Industrial Collection were specified to help create the urban inspired interior; with their irregular patterns and aged appearance they are a perfect fit for the edgy ICE Café.  Dekton Trilium offers a mixture of colours inspired by volcanic rock, with intense accents of black and grey, while Dekton Radium represents a sheet of rusted, acid-washed steel, creating a look that perfectly combines warm orangey brown tones with the coldness of blue and green hues.  Both offer a matte finish, with the appearance dependent on the angle of the light on the surface, creating a rich and varied design.

Richard Hibbert, Managing Director at Kitchen Studio KSL Sudbury, who supplied the designs, commented, «We have partnered with ICE cook school for a few amazing projects over the last couple of years, and the chance to work with them on their exciting Ice Cafe project was too good to miss. Most of the fixtures and fittings are made from recycled or reclaimed materials, so Dekton was the perfect surface choice for the bar top, as its Trilium and Radium options are made from 80% recycled content, taken from the surface’s own production process. It has been so well finished by Marchetti Stone, and we now love visiting for the amazing food and interior setting.”

As with all Dekton designs, Dekton Trilium and Dekton Radium boast superior technical properties, such as high resistance to UV rays, scratches, stains and thermal shock, and very low water absorption. Made from a sophisticated mixture of the raw materials used to make glass, next-generation porcelain surfaces and quartz surfaces, Dekton is suitable for a variety of different projects, including worktops, flooring and wall cladding, both inside and outside.  Most recently, Dekton Trilium has become available in Dekton 4mm Slim, which combines the technical and mechanical features that Dekton is known for with a much thinner (4mm), lighter (10 kg/m2), and manageable format for installation – ideal for wall, door and furniture cladding.
