The revolutionary ultra-compact surface Dekton® is once again demonstrating its versatility as a material for culinary concepts with the ‘mevo’ Kitchen on Wheels, designed by German manufacturer, Marcus Fußstetter.  The concept was presented for the first time in the UK during Clerkenwell Design Week (22-24 May 2018) at Cosentino’s flagship London showroom, Cosentino City London.

Each ‘mevo’ is made to order using the highest quality materials according to each customer’s specific preferences in the Fußstetter factory in Wasserburg, Germany.  Allowing users to express their individuality through the choice of Dekton® surface, variable elements will also include the choice of appliances.  Allowing for complete flexibility in line with the continuing demand for open plan living, the ‘mevo’ kitchen can be used both indoor and out, whether entertaining friends or hosting a pop-up event.  Its clever storage system offers a range of different options to ensure that whatever you need is always within reach, with various accessories such as knife blocks and trays available to ‘hang-on’ to the body of the unit.

In London, the ‘mevo’ on display featured the award-winning Dekton® Spectra surface, an intense black hue with a brilliant shine.   The ideal choice of surface for a culinary concept such as this, Dekton®’s properties allow hot pans to be place directly on the surface with no scorching or marking of the worktop, perfectly in line with the ‘mevo’ philosophy that a worktop is for working on.  Presenting a streamlined look, the Gronbach induction hob is cleverly hidden from view, allowing an unobstructed view of the stunning Dekton® top, whilst a BORA integrated extractor ensures that cooking vapours will be removed as they are produced for an enjoyable environment.  Additional appliances that can be incorporated as per individual customer specification include; Gaggenau steam ovens for versatile food preparation, a Quooker instant hot water tap for ultimate convenience and an adaptable Rieber water station.

Made from a sophisticated blend of inorganic materials, Dekton® can recreate any type of material with a high level of quality, with over 30 different designs available to choose from.  These include on-trend industrial looks imitating both aged metal and concrete as well as marble inspired colours and a range ever-popular neutral tones.  It is the ideal material for use in a variety of commercial and architectural projects due to its outstanding technical properties, offering UV, scratch, stain and heat resistance, along with production in large format slabs (up to 144cm x 320cm) and different thicknesses (20mm, 12mm and 8mm).  These large format slabs allow for the creation of seamless surfaces and spaces without limits and joins, both in indoor and outdoor spaces.  Dekton® is also the ideal choice for domestic use for flooring, staircases, bathrooms, cladding and worksurfaces.
