OTOMOTO Kitchen Sink with Silestone

OTOMOTO at Clerkenwell Design Week

The OTOMOTO kitchen sink system with Silestone by Cosentino is returning to the design forefront. The unit will be on show at the Cosentino City London showroom for Clerkenwell Design Week 2019 after a successful premiere at the Wallpaper* Handmade exhibition at Milan Design Week. The sink is just one of a number of installations Cosentino has taking place through the design festival.

The OTOMOTO kitchen sink system is a versatile, modular kitchen solution that highlights functionality and ergonomics in the kitchen. It is inspired by space-saving kitchen units seen in Japan. A lifestyle venture by artist, Ryan Gander and creative director, Tony Chambers, the OTOMOTO sink system is made from Cosentino’s Silestone – a surface made from natural quartz and other raw materials. The Silestone sink sits atop a utilitarian timber frame, with wooden boards to create a work top or to be set aside, creating a flexible prep space.

Creators Ryan Gander and Tony Chambers chose the Silestone shade Kensho in Suede finish for the OTOMOTO kitchen sink system, giving the system a grey base and soft touch of the material.

We chose Silestone for its unique and versatile qualities – its perfect balance of utility and luxury. It is tough and resilient yet looks elegant and is beautiful to touch,” says Tony Chambers, Creative Director of OTOMOTO.

“The OTOMOTO kitchen sink pushes the boundaries of innovation in the kitchen,” says Sanitago Alfonso, Vice President of Marketing and Communication at Cosentino Group. “The sink showcases both functionality and aesthetic in design, which is also enhanced using our versatile and natural Silestone material.”
