Silestone Extends its Environmental Product Declaration
The Cosentino Group is proud to announce that it has obtained the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for the entire colour spectrum of its Silestone quartz surfaces. This has been awarded following an assessment of its environmental impact throughout its life cycle.
Cosentino has previously held an EPD since 2011 for its Eco Line Series by Silestone. This colour series had a well-defined sustainable approach, with each design made using raw, recycled and environmentally-friendly materials. Cosentino was the first company in the global quartz worktop sector to obtain an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) that certifies its Life Cycle Analysis (LCA).
By extending this accreditation to include the entire Silestone® colour palette, Cosentino is reaffirming its commitment to sustainability, improving its efficiency in the use of raw materials and energy, and in waste reduction. The recognition has come from an external organisation, the International EPD System in compliance with the International Standard ISO 14025 and EN 15804.
In order to obtain this EPD, the environmental impact of Silestone was assessed in 2017 at all stages of its life cycle, “from start to finish”. This included the production, transport, installation, use and end-of-life stages.
