Cosentino at the International Bathroom Exhibition

Cosentino hosted an architecturally striking 180m2 booth at the Milan International Bathroom Exhibition 2018, displaying both exciting new launches and showcasing its existing collaborations and product offerings. An elegant reception desk greeted guests, with a dedicated area for visitors to relax and enjoy the inspirational surroundings. New launches for the Spanish multinational included on-trend designs for its Silestone® quartz surfaces, as well as the latest additions to the Dekton® ultra-compact surface brand. The recreation of different environments throughout enabled the many innovative properties and varied applications of the materials to be demonstrated to visitors, with worktops, floors, sinks, shower trays and bathroom surfaces on display.

‘DeKauri’ Bathroom Credenza by Daniel Germani

The acclaimed ‘DeKauri’ credenza was on show to visitors at the Cosentino booth. This innovative stand-alone vanity was created by the Argentinian designer and architect, Daniel Germani in partnership with Cosentino and the Italian furniture maker Riva 1920. Combining beauty and functionality, ‘DeKauri’ is made with ancient Kauri wood and includes a basin made using the ultra-compact surface Dekton® in the award-winning XGloss Halo colour, offering incredible shine and a luxe polished finish.

‘The Diner’ by David Rockwell and Design Studio 2×4

Awarded the Milano Design Award for ‘Best Engagement’, ‘The Diner’ was a fully operational pop-up restaurant by renowned architect David Rockwell in collaboration with American design magazine Surface and leading design studio 2×4. An immersive design experience, visitors were taken on a coast-to-coast journey through the United States, with four distinct environments – the Roadside Diner, East Coast Luncheonette, Midwest Diner, and West Coast Diner – all featuring Cosentino’s innovative surfaces.

The 14-meter-long central bar, designed by Rockwell and the LAB at Rockwell Group, featured two striking Silestone® by Cosentino quartz designs in Pearl Jasmine and Eternal Marquina. The Roadside Diner featured a coffee bar crafted from the Dekton® ultra-compact surface in the colour Orix, a design inspired by eroded cement, while the East Coast Luncheonette, Midwest Diner and West Coast Diner utilised Dekton® Opera surfaces for the booth tables.

Dekton® Chosen for ‘Smart Square’ in Partnership with INHABITS by DDN and Progetto CMR

Dekton® by Cosentino was the flooring material of choice for an innovative and immersive installation created by design studio Progetto CMR, led by architect Massimo Roj, in partnership with INHABITS, the exclusive exhibition organised by DDN dedicated to imagining the living spaces of the future during Milan Design Week. Located at the Piazza Castello, one of Milan’s most iconic spaces, more than 300m2 was transformed using Dekton® Radium, an industrial look ultra-compact surface made from up to 80% recycled materials. Open to visitors over the course of the week, benches placed around the square provided different elements for interaction, such as wi-fi hot spots and device charging, whilst a central light sculpture and flooring lights came to life when passers-by walked over the floor.

Dekton® and GandiaBlasco Outdoor Furniture Collection by Daniel Germani

Launched at Salone del Mobile, ‘Solanas’ is the collective work of renowned Argentinian architect Daniel Germani, Dekton® by Cosentino and Spanish brand GandiaBlasco. A collection of design-led modular outdoor furniture, ‘Solanas’ represents an homage to Solanas beach in Uruguay, where Daniel used to spend his summers as a child. Featuring softer forms with rounded edges, the pieces have been created with the desire to create intimate outdoor spaces. Crafted using highly weather-resistant materials including an aluminium structure, Dekton®’s ultra-compact surfaces were the obvious choice for use on the tables, ensuring beautiful aesthetics that did not compromise on practicality or longevity.

Marc Sadler’s GranGusto Kitchen with RIVA 1920 and Dekton®

Dekton® by Cosentino was the material of choice for the worktop of the GranGusto kitchen created by the French designer, Marc Sadler in collaboration with the Italian furniture maker, Riva 1920. A spectacular semi-professional kitchen, GranGusto is made up of a wide variety of high-quality elements, contrasting the traditional art of carpentry of Riva 1920 with next-generation, advanced materials such as the ultra-compact surface Dekton® and appliances from the respected Wolf and Sub-Zero brands.

Exemplifying the best of design, GranGusto offers a space with unbroken lines that stretch and flow, with worktops at a comfortable height for the user, combining both beauty and practicality. Contrasting against the wooden cabinetry, the impressive worktop has been created using the ultra-compact surface Dekton® Sirius, catching the eye with its intense dark finish. Other features include a central island, combining a hardwood panel resting on a steel frame. A unique dual-purpose structure hangs over it, providing illumination and a rack for glasses.

Dekton® Chosen by Francesc Rifé and Mobalco for its ‘Nature’ Kitchen

Presented at Milan’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the ‘Nature’ kitchen was the collective work of Spanish interior designer, Francesc Rifé and kitchen manufacturer, Mobalco. Featuring striking Dekton® by Cosentino worktops, ‘Nature’ is an imagining of the future of the kitchen and includes the concept of the kitchen garden, with specific elements for culinary and medicinal plants. Cooking and cultivating is shown in the same space, achieving a true connection between nature and domestic life.

With the look and feel of natural stone, Dekton® Kelya contrasted perfectly against the wooden elements with its dark background and a delicate veining, decorating the doors in revolutionary new 4mm thickness and on the kitchen island in its 12mm form.
