Founded by designer, Oliver Goettling, Goettling Interiors provides quintessential, efficient German design and offers awe-inspiring aesthetics which reflect the luxurious surroundings of its birthplace, Dubai. Situated in the Palm Jumeirah, Goettling has designed a stunning kitchen for well-travelled clients which fits in seamlessly with its stunning surroundings.
Commenting on the design, Oliver says, “It is important to acknowledge that the kitchen has evolved into the heart of the home. This is a space where families like to unwind, entertain, eat and cook. The design aim for this particular project was to deliver a spacious, state-of-the-art kitchen. The challenge here was to accommodate all the client’s wishes in a room which had limited space and an unusual layout. We found the best solution was to knock down the partition wall between the kitchen and the living/dining area”.
Dekton Keon in half an inch thickness was specified for the countertop, splashback and connecting breakfast bar. With its easy to clean properties and high resistance to heat, scratches and stains Dekton is the ideal choice for busy areas such as the kitchen. Oliver was able to achieve a unified look with the material spanning the majority of the worktop space. A special cube system feature has also been incorporated into the Dekton splashback, encasing multiple electrical sockets which pull-out to reveal charging points for gadgets.
The handleless, sand grey high-gloss lacquer cabinetry from Schüller’s Next125 range is coupled with natural walnut veneer to add texture, whilst a low plinth ensures fewer lines in the design and provides more storage space. At just two inches high, the plinth remains unobtrusive, rather like a shadow gap, giving the effect that the kitchen appears to float. State-of-the-art appliances from Gaggenau, including an extraction hood, induction hob, built-in fridge-freezer, microwave combination oven and under-counter wine cabinet with independently controlled climate zones have been seamlessly integrated to create a sleek look.
